What are the chances that this powerful group could organize a ALL GOLD DAY for Saturday at the BC? Might be a good way to show Riley what the MU advantage is like. I'm always in GOLD so no change for me, but why not see what these powerful posters can do!!!

1 in 24 chance, a little more than 4% chance.
I too will be wearing gold, and think it would be great if more did. However, the impact of 25-60 year olds wearing gold t-shirts (ie sweater vests) is likely to make little difference in the decision making of an 18 year old basketball recruit.
Every home game should be a "gold out." We shouldn't have to schedule a day. If you're not wearing gold to the games then shame on you!
I think MU Scoop should use its power of 10,000 to 21,000 Site Unique Visitors to push this. I think muscoop should design a T-shirt on Cafepress.com and push this.
My $.02

I own a screen printing business and I can help try to make this happen for the MU community!
Crew - what's the cost for 19,000 gold t-shirts???? Would love to see that place decked out all in gold.

Damn. Let's find those people and get them season tickets!
Signed,
A season ticket holder who has never gone to a game NOT wearing gold.

I bet it is close to $100k
Just asking....isn't it callled the BLUE & gold Fund?
>>>Look at the Spirit Shop--like 8 to 1 blue to gold merchandise
>>>Exception is golf wear or t-shirts. Not really conducive to winter.
>>>I knew I was old when I was in line in the men's room when a young alum looked at me and said to his buddy: "There's a Vest". I was wearing a fleece, for god's sake--I don't even golf!.
>>>I'll wear what is clean in the closet on Saturday ;)

The last time that the students were given blue shirts with their season tickets was the 99-00 season with the "Bring Your Game Face!" shirts. Take a hint :)

Except for the DWade #3 shirts and the '77 anniversary powder blue shirts that were given out over the last few years...
Students should wear GOLD!! Make your section stand out!!
Just make sure you don't wear any red. Even if it's a little scarf your grandma knit and she really wants you to wear it, leave it home. Sorry Grandma, see you next Christmas.

Which didn't come with the student tickets, which is the point I made (if you re-read my original post a little closer).
The University is handing out what are tantamount to uniforms to the student ticket-holders that are the same color every year and it's quite clear that the University has made a branding decision with regards to what color they want fans wearing at Marquette University home games.

Students only account for 22% of the Bradley Center.

I think Skatastrophy is actually referring to the gold shirts students get with season tickets when he says "uniforms."

Correct.
Sorry I couldn't elaborate further earlier, I had to run to a meeting.

Very perceptive ::) The point is that the university has made it clear which color they want people wearing to games (even if they're only giving out free shirts to the kids). The least us alumni could do is match the student section. It creates a huge visual impact looking at the student section all decked out in gold. Imagine if the whole stadium did it. Nobody would question what game they just flipped on while watching TV when there are 19k people dressed in the loudest gold t-shirts and sweatshirts you can imagine :)
If one of our sponsors--or two or three--got together with the school, it wouldn't be hard for them to provide gold tshirts to everyone at the UConn game (ESPN, Feb 25, 7pm). Just googling 'wholesale tshirts,' the first site I checked had them for $1.59. $20k gets you 12k shirts. That's without any printing, but at that volume, it's probably not far off. One shirt per seat, minus student section, and it's a done deal.
The entire student section is almost always gold anyways.
A "gold out" requires everyone in the BC to wear a gold shirt. Good luck getting MUScoop to inspire that... you need media etc involved. Perhaps the MU athletic program itself to promote it
Crean tried it a few times, where he'd promote a gold-out on his TV show, radio .. was in emails, etc.
Might have increased gold by 10%, but it basically did not work.
With luck, Scoop could get 1% more gold in the stands.
Bottom line, there are just too many people who refuse to play along.
Anti-gold poster in 3...2...1...
Gold out the site for a start! Can we do that?
