Title: Stat of the Night
Post by: Ellenson Guerrero on January 26, 2009, 08:59:06 PM
Only 3 turnovers for MU tonight.... on the road.... in a building where ND just finished a 20 Big East home winning streak.

If I'm not mistaken I believe our previous season low was around 8.

That was a great stat but somewhat expected against a ND team that never forces any turnovers.

The stat of the night that stood out to me: Dom's 9 rebounds.  What an absolute Warrior he was on the glass, and we needed just about every one.

Agreed.

I feel like rebounds are the team's biggest weaknesses. I was very impressed by the way DJ and Lazar were able to battle for those rebounds.

the stat of the night is the 3 TO's. i dont care if u are playing a D3 school, you only turn the ball over 3 times that is amazing. That had to be some sort of all-time record for MU. I wonder when the last time we that we had less than 5 TO's in 1 game

when a team zones the turnobver number tend s ot go way down.  MU won becuase they shut everyone down besides harnagody and really rebounded th eball well.

And two of those turnovers came back-to-back in the game's first five or six minutes.  Essentially, MU turned it over one time in the last 34 minutes of action.

How bout the stat that neither teams bench scored a point all night.... I would love to know the last time this happened in a game.  Just ridiculous...

Oh and Dom's 9 rebounds was pretty good too.

You can count Burke in that group too...we only had 4 guys score and we were still able to pull off a major win on the road! It really says something about this team's character. How's that for a Buzzism!

I was thinking about the only four guys scoring.  I am a little concerned that this could be a problem down the stretch if one of the fab four get into foul trouble.  But James with 9 boards?  Holy crap that is amazing, especially considering the size disadvantage we had against ND.

i think the points in the paint that we were able to score last night. I know that ND isnt as big as other schools in the conference, but you have to be happy with how we played in the lane.

You have to be concerned with what this means for us next year. I know people will say... recruits and younger players with their experience this year, but this shows us just how much we rely on the trio and lazar for all of our points. You take the trio out and we have lost 45 easy. Can our bench and recruits off set this?

Completely different set of expectations next year. No worries about that now. Next year the fun will be in watching the start of the development process with some ups and likely a lot of downs. As long as there are those glimpses of high potential it will be fun to see.

No bench points from either team. When was the last time that happened in the Big East? If ever?

I'll tell you the only stat that matters from last night... 1 win!  i don't care if our starters all played 40 minutes and we won 2-0... a win is a win.  and that win is even sweeter when its against the domers.

let alone the last time it happened between two ranked opponents.
