There was just a fastbreak by Dyson on UConn and a player from Vill put a hand on Dyson's lower back and they called an intentional foul. That is the WEAKEST intentional foul I have ever seen called.
I'm watching and I agree. That shouldn't even have been a foul, let alone a flagrant.
I agree, and that play was part of a huge swing for UConn. Nova is trying so hard to not let this one slip away. Both teams are playing like they don't want it right now!
And this is why senile old refs like Jim Burr belong in the rest home ;)
I would of had to back out of my prediction that Villanova will not make the NCAA tournament, if they had won this game. Until they actually beat one of the good teams in the conference they will be on the outside looking in on selection day.
Wow! I saw that play on Sportscenter and wasn't sure they should have called any foul. To call that an intentional foul is outrageous. Does it seem to anyone else that Villanova gets more than their share of awful calls? The gtown game from last year comes to mind immediately, but there have been others as well.
i remember that gtown game from last year. that call was ridiculous. i was outraged for villanova that night.
UConn made the subsequent 2 FTs, but Nova stole the inbounds pass that followed due to UConn being awarded the ball, so the difference between a regular foul and an intentional foul was only one point and didn't cost Nova the game or anything. But it was a ridiculous call.
