Title: Buzz Williams fan clubs on Facebook
Post by: ChicosBailBonds on January 18, 2009, 10:09:05 PM
For those interested, there are several and only have a few people in them.  I found three, and joined all three.

One has 56 members, one has 13 and the other 12 members.

For you Facebook users, maybe time to join those clubs?

Man, Pat's a part of some interesting groups.  There's the "We hope Tom Crean enjoys his no tourney, drugged up, Mickey Mouseless team", "Bring Bob Knight to Marquette", and my favorite "Help bring Jamil Wilson to Marquette"...which also has Wes as a member.

You have to wonder if some of those get into NCAA infractions stuff.  I noticed a lot of alum are "friends" with the players.....I wonder how the NCAA views that stuff.  I honestly don't know.

Tom Crean looks like Dwight Schrute club is good

According to my teenage daughter, no one >25 should be on Facebook.  It is "just creepy wrong".

That's super incorrect.  In the past 4 months, the number of "facebook friends" I've found (all over 35) has quadrupled.

Facebook is adding an astounding 650,000 new members PER DAY.  Just in the time it took to read this message, like 2,000 people joined Facebook.

I'll bet the average age has shot up 8 years in just the past 6-9 months, and is climbing fast.

does your daughter also say "Oh My Gawd" and "like um" a lot?  i think she needs to rethink her age limit for facebook.  considering, i'm 25 and facebook started when i was in college.  i personally think it was better when you needed a college email address to open an account.  but hey, you can't keep a good thing down long.

Tell her she's getting pretty close to being old! LOL!

Facebook is IDEAL for 20+

MySpace should be the little teenybopper, pre-pubescent social networking site, not Facebook.

My FB story...

On Saturday morning I joined a Captain Sullenberger fan club.  I texted a buddy that 135,000 people had joined.  I then refreshed my browser and it was 136,000 all in the space of 5 minutes.  I kept doing it and it was amazing to see the number skyrocket in minutes.

I'm 33, I have 250 "friends", most of which are as old or older.  My college age brother and sister have come to accept that their old playground is now inhabited by their older siblings.  I can see how HS & college kids would hate the influx of "old" people but it has been a great way to reconnect and share photos of kids etc.  My wife & I no longer use snapfish or oPhoto...we just upload pics of our son to FB and most of desired audience can see them.

I would agree with Hilltopper that the avg age has to of spiked in the past year.  My wife joined 18 months ago and had maybe 10-15 friends...she re-activated it back in July when I joined and her friends are now in the 200s.  The growth is incredible.

What I meant was current players being "friends" with alums in facebook.  You can see who everyone's friends are.  I wonder how the NCAA treats this stuff, I honestly don't know.

Some guy claiming to be from Milwaukee just wrote a very cogent comment on that page.  Looks like he belongs in WFB.

I don't know much about NCAA rules but it would seem that most of them are targeted at recruiting or giving things to current players. It would seem harsh to prevent interaction between current players and former players. I could see a problem with former players and future players.
I have a buddy who played division 1 football and he was allowed to talk about his school with a recruit. He was not allowed to talk about his school's football team.
