This is a great example of how the newspaper business is going downhill and why no one reads them anymore.. A passage from the link above ...
The game's most bizarre moment came at the 17:13 mark of the second half when Xavier drove to the hoop and was scraped in the face by McNeal with no foul call.
He wasn't scraping. He ran into to an elbow. It wasn't McNeal, it was Joe Fulce. Other than that, it is pretty accurate.
McDermott scooped up the ball and did get to the line for two shots, but Xavier rolled on the court in pain. Xavier made it to the PC bench but as McDermott waited to take his shots, a man brazenly walked onto the floor and up to referee Todd Williams.
No McDermott was "waiting to take his shots." He took one already and was waiting to take the second.
The man was later identified by Dunkin' Donuts Center general manager Larry Lepore as Jonathan Xavier, a brother of Jeff Xavier. The man began to yell at the referee before security guards finally grabbed him and pulled him off the floor.
I watched the tape three times and I did not see security grab anyone. It fact i did not see security at all. It was the refs and and a PC player that grabbed him.
Lepore said Jonathan Xavier was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
Never let the facts get in the way of a good story!
That play possibly had the highest amount of apparent pain vs. lack of actual physical contact ratio I have seen. Well, except for my 8 year old daughter's game yesterday afternoon where a girl got bumped on her nose and ran to her mom crying.
Also .. there were comments of "profusely bleeding" .. he was? They showed him on TV, and I never saw any red on the towel he had on his face.

"no foul call"...that was due to the fact that there was no foul that occurred. There was no backcourt violation called or goaltending called either, why wasn't that included in the article. If the editors were doing their job the sentence would read, "was scraped in the face when he ran into Fulce's elbow with no travelling call."

Valvano said he had a cut below his right eye.
Reading the PC fan reactions to the article reminded me of someone on last night's chat who thought we weren't getting beat by the center, Hanke.
He hit shots down low and stepped out for a few, not allowing us to clog the blocks. The PC fans on the Scout board also wondered why Kale was in and Hanke wasn't in as much.

Actually, he did get scraped/gauged in the eye. Its pretty easy to see actually, I don't know how people are missing it, and thinking it was the elbow that did it.
As Xaiver was going up for his shot, Fulce was also raisng is arms. As Joe's left arm went up, his hand gauged the right eye of Xaiver. That is how they kid got hurt. Joe's elbow had nothing to do with it.
It only took one replay to see that.

Gerald McNeal?
yes it was Fulce's left hand and there was alot of red on the towel especially as he was throwing his tantrum
