Watched the game on the tube and have my own opinion of his play, but would like to have others respond first.
I am not sure if I saw the same game as you but they showed the Horlick Park game last night on tv. I missed most of the first half where Jamil made the biggest impact. I saw a few minutes of the first half and about a half of the second half. My thoughts on Jamil.
Most talented player on the court.
Seemed lazy and disinterested. Announcer mentioned he was a lot more active before he received a technical. I didn't see that portion of the game.
Was 1-4 on his free throws that I saw. Made a putback on his own miss where the first shot wasn't good but showed his skills when he grabbed his miss and put it in for a hoop.
He oozes talent but at the same time I don't see any fire or passion in his game or ability to use his skills and take over a tight game.
Horlick should have won that game going away. Best player, better overall talent and very experienced. Too many boneheaded plays by both teams at the end of the game. I was disappointed Jamil didn't take over at that point in time against a top 10 state team. I don't know if I should fault Jamil or the coach.
Off of just one game where I only saw a third of the game, I think Jamil is a risky recruit. Could be a very good player but could also be a complete bust if he doesn't have the work ethic.
Bingo, disappointed in what I saw. Granted it was just one game but he was very lazy in this game and definately preferred to play outside and shy away from contact. Other than a few nice passes, he didn't show me much. In fact, plays much smaller than 6'7".
