Title: Top Ten?
Post by: buckchuckler on January 14, 2009, 02:29:01 PM
Looks like we have a great chance to move into the top ten after this week with some of the teams directly ahead of us with some tough matchups.  Syracuse has 2 tough games in Georgetown and ND, Clemson meets up with Wake, Texas and ND already lost, Georgetown has Syracuse and Duke.  Good opportunity to make another move.

Have to win at Providence first.

I'm not saying I don't think we will...I just don't like looking ahead that much.

That was my first thought when I read the original post.  I hope we don't add our name to the list of top 25 teams that lose this week.  It's definitely not a gimme, Providence is 3-1 and hung tough with UConn in their only loss of the conference, and it's an away game in the Big East.

Yeah obviously we need to take care of business, and Providence is no cake walk, just aware of some opportunity.

I have a problem with the team looking ahead, but I don't see anything wrong with us doing it here.  That being said, the Providence game will not be easy.

PC loss was to Georgetown and they played them close in D.C.

Hard to judge Providence.  Yes, they played Georgetown close, but except for Cincinnati and Rhode Island they've lost to every other top 100 team they've played.

Of course, most of those were on the road or neutral. Really, from their schedule and Ws and Ls, I can only gather that they are inconsistent.  Not only do I think we're the better team for this one, but I think the experience of our guys will carry us through (yet again).

We are the better team, but, I can tell you that PC is taking this as a chance to make the statement they felt they should have made against Georgetown.  Would expect a tough match with us winning.

The only important game is the next one.  Let's beat Providence!

GO MARQUETTE!
