13 threes in 23 minutes? Ridiculous.

I was going to say the same thing. It reminds me of the end of the Missouri game.
Who needs bigs when we shoot 3's like this. ;)
This is like what Kansas did against us in the first half of the Final Four
Let's just hope they don't fall to in love with it the rest of the season. Shoot it in rhythm and that's fine. Today is insane, especially for McNeal who is not a great 3 point shooter but right now the guy can't miss. Incredible. Enjoying every bit of it.
Loving it. Agree it may never happen again. Embrace it today, take the big W and move on.
no one can play us man to man and now we are busting zones.

Maybe Jerel has turned the corner....on the broadcast they said in the last 5 games he's shooting 62% percent from behind the line. Time will tell I guess.
love gettin hot but we still need the paint touches buzz is always goin on about.
I hope we don't fall in love with the three but we can beat any team in the Big East (or nation) if we shoot like we did.
Take what the defense gives you. I expected a letdown today. However, these seniors are in a different league.
Too bad we can't "bank" some of those shots. If we are cold on Wednesday it would be nice to cash some of them in.
my recollection is jerel was 5-6 against nova
I know you haven't posted on the Cincy game yet, but get excited Marquette! I know we aren't always going to hit every 3-pointer we put up like today, but I think we need to keep shooting them on kickouts when we are open because we've only shot 46% on 2-pointers in Big East play the last two years running. Buzz seems to have all 4 loose about putting up the trey.
Add to that to Deonta Vaughn, returning 1st team Big East guard, being held to ZERO points by Dominic's incredible man-to-man defense, and Otule rejecting a shot a few seconds after taking the court and putting in a couple of baskets. Cincy is a top 50 team who we've played throughout our history that we had never beaten by more than 17 points until today's 84-50 shallacking. We are going to lose some games in the Big East - everyone will - but today showed the potential that we can go on an incredible run this year, so don't panic after future losses. It's going to be a great year!
Tied the MU record for made 3s according to the post-game broadcast.
Was at the game and the makes in the first half were within the offense where we got some good clean looks. The misses came mostly when they came down the court and chucked it. Always helps to have some luck like Mo nailing it at the end of the first half. Second half...they simply didn't cover us on the perimeter and we made them pay. Lazar made the same shot three trips down the floor with not even a hand in his face.

If someone shooting 47% from 3 point land is not a great 3 point shooter, I would like to know what percentage you feel McNeal would have to shoot to be considered great. Oh that 47% includes 2 stinkers of a game. The first being the first game of the year where he went 1-8 and the second being against Dayton also 1-8. Take those 2 out of the equation and he is shooting 57% in the other 13 games but all very good 3 point shooters will have bad games.
Oh and for comparisons sake, that would put McNeal top 5 in 3 point percentage in the Big East.
you can't just pull out two "stinker" games form his season totals unless you are willing to pull out today's 7 for 7 and the 5 for 6 or whatever it was vs. Villanova. I learned that in my Marquette Stats class

Wow way to take my words out of context. MCNEAL IS A VERY GOOD 3 POINT SHOOTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
McNeal is a very good 3 pt shooter when the 3s come within the flow of the offense. I would like to see his 3pt percentage when MU brings it up the floor...passes once to McNeal who promptly shoots. I bet that number is pretty poor. However, swing the ball around a couple of times and get the defense chasing our guys around and McNeal can get set for a good three, then he is fun to watch.
Don't know if anybody mentioned this, but we tied a school record for 3's with 15. We hit 75% from 3 and went 54% for FGs. So to answer the subject of the thread, no I haven't seen the team--as a whole--shoot like this.
Maybe McNeal really can shoot the three. From everything we heard over the summer he was lights out and ready to have a breakout (if you can do that after a year you averaged ~15 ppg) year. Maybe his shooting really has improved that much.
We will find out on Wednesday at Rutgers.
I was joking with my wife that McNeal was going to rip a mask off, and it was Novak the whole time. ;D
After a game like this, a few pump fakes and dribble drives to the hoop should be WIDE open against Rutgers...I'd try it a few times our first few possessions. Two things you need every road game: play good D, and get to the FT line.

15/25= 60%
