Did I read correctly that there is going to be a "reality" show on MTV based on UW-Madison students?
There is actually a show I hope bombs more than I hoped Rosie O'Donnell's variety show did.
QuoteCollege Life - Follows freshman at the University of Wisconsin at Madison as they adjust to life away from home. All the footage will be shot by the students themselves. With MTV's track record of inclusiveness and the fact that Madison is known for its progressive attitudes, I fully expect to see college life from the eyes of at least one gay student.
Should be interesting tracking the freshmen trying to find housing, buying mopeds, blurring out the obscene amount of pot usage and of course being either raped or assaulted by a UW athlete.

More than likely they will be students from the east coast or California and we'll see plenty of their $25,000 a year private dorm room, calling cabs to go to class, and buying $900 jackets on State St. It will look nothing like the typical college life, because face it, MTV didn't give a camera to some kid from Wausau; they found a connection with the family of some kid from New York.

Because there aren't any of those kids at Marquette. Right.

Having gone to UW-Madison for a year, I can tell you that there's a huge difference. I'm not trying to put down anyone from NY or Cali, I'm friends with a kid from NY and two from Cali at MU and they're nothing like their Madison counterparts, it's just completely different in Madison. Nobody from Marquette asked upon meeting me what my parents did so they could judge if I was worthy of being a friend. MU does not give most kids the standard dorm that is infested with cockroaches (mine was in Madison), and allow the select few to pay $25,000 for the private dorms with the broadway retailers downstairs on the same block so they can feel like they're at home. There may be some kids that want to live like that at MU, but the school does not pamper them. I'm predicting that MTV's "reality" show will feature that group, which lives about as far from the real college experience as you can get. Considering they will most likely be portraying a "state school" that way, it's an insult to the majority of students there.

That's not the point. Every school in America has a portion of rich students. The criticism is that MTV isn't going to show your average UW (a-hole) student. They'll pick some kids that fit the mold chapman suggested, who are clearly in the numerical minority.
Anyone want to drive to Madison and TP their place? Maybe stake their yard with a MU flag or two?

Exactly. MTV will go this way, because it will get better ratings, so you can't really blame them. Face it, following most of us around for a semester would make for boring television with a few drunken antics mixed in. And I'm sure the administration at UW actually loves that the show could help them get more kids with money who are there for a four year vacation, but it will be a rude awakening for a lot of other kids who think their time there will be like what is portrayed on the show; hopefully MU will take them in after they get their wake-up call.

I don't think that exists.
