There's some chatter that DaShonte Riley, 6-11, 220 Georgetown decommit from Detroit Country Day, has Marquette on his final list. anybody else hearing anything?
Speaking of recruiting rumors I just came about this one about Jamie Skeen from Wake Forest...
QuoteThe Bulls are one of four schools in the mix for Jamie Skeen, a 6-foot-8, 250-pound power forward who is transferring after two seasons at Wake Forest. Skeen, who is also considering Seton Hall, Marquette and Virginia Commonwealth

not a chance in you know what that this kid comes to MU
Is Dashonte 09 or 10? Is he a significant upgrade to what we already have up front for the next 3 years? Can he play shooting guard? Can we find pt for 4 6'10" players?

My god.
He has a website already...

"DaShonte Riley - Playing with as much length as any player at the camp, DaShonte Riley is just oozing with potential."
Get him here now. I want anything that oozes. We all know what it did to these guys...

Not too mention this ooze too
"One time Georgetown commitment and former five-star (now three-star) center prospect DaShonte Riley of Detroit Country Day is back on the market after reneging on his pledge to the Hoyas. Michigan is aware – but are the coaches interested?"
Sounds a bit like Jamil Wilson...
I don't know, NYWarrior. Seems to me that this board just makes a lot of stuff up.

Let's not go flying off the handle. I am going to take this with a very large grain of salt.

He's not even at the point of having a final list yet, and at this point the only schools confirmed on his list are Michigan, Detroit, Georgia Tech and Ohio State.

would skeen be eligible for 10/15 2009?

He would be eligible at the beginning of the second semester since he is transferring at semester break. Having said that, given his current academic standing at Wake Forest, Skeen may not be eligible at all. He's been suspended for violating academic policy and now declared academically ineligible.

As far as I know he does not have a broken foot.
I heard Dashonte recently grew 5 inches and is now 7'4" 262 lbs

Talent wise, definitely. The kid is so talented that if he actually lived up to his potential he would be gone after 1-2 years.
The problems are all mental. He doesn't always seem interested in giving max effort, and often loses interest as the game goes on if things aren't going his way early. There's also a question about whether he's mentally tough. One of the rumors surrounding his choosing not to go to Georgetown was that he wasn't interested in coming in and fighting for playing time with Monroe and Sims.
If someone can get his head screwed on right, he can be a beast.
If I had a choice between the two I would rather have dashonte because he has more potential. Skeen would be good for a year or two, but what is the point of bringing in a transfer for experience when the team will be building for the future next season.
Some more insight on Skeen from my roommate who is a Wake alum:
"Yeah I had heard Marquette was one of the schools he was looking at. He'll be decent if you pick him up. He can shoot the 3 pretty well for a big, but he lost a lot of his athleticism his senior year in high school after blowing out his knee. He was suspended first semester this year, but I can't remember why. Didn't really improve much as a player last year. Had we not had such quality depth up front this year I doubt he would have transferred, because the guy can play in the ACC. Bottom line, he would be a solid addition to your program, but don't expect a stud."
Skeen has a top 3 according to Zagsblog, and MU is not in it.

It never made sense that he would be out of Wake due to academics and then transfer to Marquette.
Why? Wake is probably a more prestigious school than MU.

Agreed...we've always been extremely stringent with the academics of our basketball players.
Hold on to the hate Abe.
