I caught some of the article, we won't miss him as he was never here.

Why didn't he go to IU?

Am I one of the only ones who isn't really that disappointed that he didn't come?  I mean it makes sense and we moved on.  I wish we could have got him obviously, but it just worked out this way.  Who is to say we would have half of the recruits we do for next season if TC were still here?

Well, we have plenty of talented guards now, even though he would figure into the mix.  Plus we haven't seen how good Junior may be and if he fits the style of play under Buzz better.

If we're going to get into "almosts" that I've been following, boy I wish they didn't make up a reason to deny Damian Saunders from enrolling when we were oversigned, especially since Hazel is all that's left of that recruiting class now.  He's a sophomore now, and though as undersized as any of our big men at 6-7, he starts at the 5 for Duquesne and is averaging over 17 points and 7 rebounds per game.  Put up 22 and 10 on Duke, 15 and 6 on Pitt.  He can also make some 3's (45%, 9-20), and is over 2 per game in assists, steals, and blocks.  Kid could be headed for the NBA eventually.

Once again, BFD, and in the future can all obsessing about Tyshawn Taylor be moved to the Superbar??

Enough with the obsessing over TT, already. Please.

Saunders couldn't qualify, and then the drug thing made it official. But, yes, he would have gotten a load of playing time.

Saunders was the odd man out when Crean overbooked scholarships and he picked the wrong guy to throw into the street. It had nothing to do with academics. If we are that selective when it comes to basketball players, we might not have a single player coming in next year.

This is not what has been said over on Marquettehoops.com.

I'm not a member over there, so I can't search the site for old posts, but I believe IWB addressed this earlier in the season and stated that it was indeed academic.

Saunders qualified his ACT well before Maymon did at the same points in their lives. Don't believe everything (anything) on that board regarding the program.

Quick Red, get on the phone to AP/USA Today to straighten them out:

Three freshmen, including 6-7 forward Damian Saunders, are expected to make a contribution immediately. Saunders initially signed with Marquette, only to enroll in Duquesne after an academic issue led Marquette to not admit him.

Come on, red, now all our players coming in next year are academic risks? It is really amazing how we maintain one of the highest graduation rates amone Division I teams when we recruit borderline students.

Considering Junior Cadougan has a 4.0 I don't think he is an academic risk.

Why didn't he go to IU?

Because he didn't want to be on probation.  Why didn't he go to MU?  Because his coach didn't know Buzz.

It's all about relationships.  Yes, we'll miss him.  He's a great player.  But that's the way it goes.  The guys we got instead are supposed to be good.

+1

I'm just as excited about the future of this program as I was before losing NW and TT, if not more.

I know I've been repetitive in my Cadougan > or = Taylor stance, but I think we'll be just fine.

I offer that it would be much easier for you to stop reading and responding to the posts about t taytor than to rally everyone on this board to "move on".

Yeah, I know, I should just shut up about people who continue to flog a long dead horse, obsess over a kid who NEVER CAME HERE, and make ridiculous assumptions that he's the next f***ing Isiah Thomas.  I'm sure there's a new thread every week on the UW board bemoaning and whining about Maymon coming to MU.

I agree to an extent. but there is a limit on how much "real news" and "worthwile discussion" this particular group of posters can generate so please forgive people for reading and posting subjects that are beneath you.  It's the equivalent of a gossip column and you don't have to read it.

i don't understand that why all threads regarding the former MU coach get moved to the superbar, but threads regarding former, or never been, MU players stay in the AL.  can one of the moderators please explain the discretion that is used when deciding what threads stay, and what get moved.
Title: Re: t taylor
Post by: mu_hilltopper on December 10, 2008, 06:57:32 PM
Disagree with your premise.  Not "all" threads about Crean get moved to the superbar.  A few have, earlier in the year.  Not sure any have lately.  Honestly, I think most of us use "Show Unread" so have no idea what threads are on what boards.

But furthermore, there have been complainers who've suggested your idea, that either no one should talk about Crean/Indiana, or if they do, it shouldn't be in the Al.   Whatever.  Personally, I think all MU BB related stuff, whether that's past, present, or future belongs on the main board.   Others want it segregated.   I really don't care enough to move threads like that.

In the end, does it really make that big a difference?  Read the threads you want to, ignore those you don't.

If I were to make one rule, it'd be : Give new threads good titles that explain the original post thesis.   It'd make it much easier for people to ignore threads they aren't interested in.

Another good idea - thanks mods - is to use the ignore button.  Saves you from reading a lot of tiresome same ole, same ole.

the ignore button is great for obnoxious posters, however the issue was with threads.  I'm only continuing to check this thread since the responses to my original post are on it... but taylor was never a part of marquette basketball... i count being part of marquette basketball as partaking in practice or games, attending class, reaching out to the fans, and embracing the opportunity.  by my count, that bob hurley drone doesn't fit into any of those.

i wish him the best at KU, but good riddance.  he never was nor ever will be a part of Marquette.

-1, spent hours reading about this kid.  I don't mind if a few games into the season someone wants to talk about him, this is not an epidemic.  If you "useless" thread police had it your way there would be about 6 a week.  There just isn't that much real news on a day to day basis.

i apologize for assuming that you are able to click on the superbar forum and read in there.  that was silly of me.  somehow i don't think moving threads, like they have done since TC left would decrease the number of posts.  please show me where i said delete the thread.  i simply asked why do some get moved and not others.  if you "not able to read" people want to keep commenting, please start your own thread so that you only waste eachothers time.

Our own thread?  Like the one about t taylor that you hijacked?  if you want to bitch about every thread you don't find value and plead for 'mods' to explain their 'decision' to not banish it to superbar then pm them.  I guess i overated your ability to not click on a link as well as your ability to respond to a discenting opinion in an amiable way.

The crean threads were outragous, hatefull, often lewd and got moved.  I haven't heard anyone say that for the rest of time TC isn't allowed to be a thread topic.  This one would have been 8 posts and then off the map but instead people complaining about other people being interested in it has made it stick at the top of the board.  Hope you are proud.

rawdog... i will leave it at this.  i only want it moved to the top one more time by my doing... then i can let you keep this thread alive.  i love how easily some of you get baited into message board arguments.  you slam me for keeping a thread going, what have you done for the past 2 days?

so to answer your question... yes, yes i am proud.  i am proud that i pointed out how easily it is to get people, like you, riled up.  you could have let this die too my friend.  mission accomplished.  i look forward to the future run ins with you.

also, so we stay on topic.  bob hurley is a dbag and i wish taylor the best.
