Title: Dayton Game
Post by: willie warrior on December 01, 2008, 07:07:34 AM
Time to sound off a bit.
I have been a Warrior fan for over 50 years and have seen tons of ups and plenty of downs. I am just frustrated by the way we played against Dayton. Some concerns and observations:
<<Mc Neal is not a good 3 point shooter and has no business hoisting that many up. A couple per game is tops
<<If Williams has been accentuating defense in practice, he needs another scheme. The defense this year has been poor.
<<For years now we have not had a decent big man/men. Why cannot we recruit some? Wisconsin seems to pull all the ones out of the state, and we continue to flounder at the 4/5. The last decent big man we recruited was Merrit, and the way he played, with that silly spin move, I believe he thought he was a guard
<<Without an inside game, I suspect we will get killed in the Big East. This continuous dribbling/passing around the perimeter and then hoisting a three is ridiculous. Of course, with no inside players, that seems like the best option to Williams.
<<James is a terrible free throw shooter for a point guard. Can anybody think of a worse free throw shooter we have had at the point? That will hurt us in close games.
<<I get tired of us playing cupcakes the first 4 or 5 games and then when we get better competition, we get hammered. I know the difficulties in scheduling better competition pre conference, but that should be an emphasis.
<<Our major weaknesses are an inside game and bench strength. I do not see that changing this year unless Otule and Fulce recover and are major surprises. Playing Mathews and Butler at the 4 are not solutions.
I hope this is not a looonnng disappointing season.
