Title: Our two-game losing streak in the Big East makes sense
Post by: MU Avenue on January 07, 2007, 09:27:30 PM
Marquette, which lacks any semblance of consistency or of an offensive game plan, is now playing strong teams game after game -- and Syracuse is far from the best that MU will face in the coming days and weeks.

Ours is not the well-coached, disciplined basketball team that some claim to see. It is a team that seems to have bought its own hype and the overly positive coverage in the rah-rah world of sports reporting and ESPN nonsense.

I wish we could excuse this as a blip or a "slump" that will pass. But Marquette is exactly what we saw against Providence and Syracuse: a team that has a few pretty good -- albeit horribly inconsistent -- guards and a stable of really weak forwards and centers who are not Big East-caliber basketball players.

Coach Crean has proven he is not strong when it comes to making adjustments that correct problems. And this team has problems.
