MU gets destroyed again. Trying to find a box score with 2nd chance points. It was depressing. At times Syracuse simply rebounded until they scored. On two separate occasions that I remember I am sure it was more, MU had 5 guys in the paint and the lone Syracuse guy got the offensive rebound. MU's interior players are so pathetic they barely match up with the cupcakes we played and are now getting absolutely destroyed in the BE.
Other low lights...Dan Fitzgerald is pathetic. He could not have been more worthless. Dominic Jmaes should no longer be allowed to shoot 3's. twice he shot quick 3's out of a timeout...seriously? Mu turned the ball over 3 times attempting to inbounds it. the last with the score 55-55 we did not score again for about 5-6 minutes. Crean is lost, 8 year coach lifetime contract and this guy is a terrible terrible coach.
Worst thing is that some of our bigs are in position to get rebounds, but have horrible hands. Its like they are covered in butter -- the ball hit them in the hands and bounces to the other team. Really frustrating.
Correct...not only do we bobble it until someone on the other team that has enough coordination picks it up and lays it in but they are also gone over or gone around for hoop after hoop or rebound after rebound. Additionally they are pushed and shoved like rag dolls
It's a guards game and always will be because of the NBA. Now, I do expect the guards to actually be able to do something that most guards can do...make free throws and perimeter shots.
If we just make our FT's tonight we win. If we could make an outside shot everything comes up rosy, but we cannot. Doesn't change the fact it's a guards game as stated by almost every HOF coach in college basketball right now. But they have to play like guards, and ours do not.

MU won the 2nd chance points 18-16 and offensive rebounds were tied at 18.
As bad as MU was at shooting freethrows the 'Cuse was just as bad if not worse, actually they were pretty bad in both categories. They matched our shooting woes (from the line and the arc) very well. This was a VERY winnable game. It was more or contstant turnovers that cost us the game. 23 turnovers is just ridculous.

That's just not true. While SU did go 0-6 in the first half, they went 21-29 in the 2nd. 60% is not a great night at the line, but when MU shoots 40% (6-15), it's a fantastic night. You can also get away with shooting a lower percentage when you get to the line 20 more times.
If we shot 100% from the line we still lose. Sorry. To read your posts for the last 3 months whereby you completely refuse to acknowledge a front court problem is funny. In fact the front court maybe the worst at MU in the last 40 years!

Another weird quality of Crean's teams has been that they've consistently been good offensive rebounding teams and pretty shoddy defensive rebounding teams. I don't know how many times last night that we got appropriate defensive rebounding position and the Syracuse player simply jumped over ours and got the rebound anyway. The talent differential up front is a real problem.
