Title: Outlaw Lob Play??
Post by: cheebs09 on November 18, 2008, 01:05:09 AM
Can Buzz please put an end to that play? The past two years we have probably only completed this play 20% of the time, yet they still seem to throw it everytime there is a 2 on 1 break. James is really the only one able to finish consistently. We have lost so many points on this and usually ends up with the other team going back the other way with the advantage. Plus, I always worry one of the players will collide and fall and get injured, and we don't need that anymore.

Agreed,

Way to many wasted possessions...create a steal, run the break, miss a dunk.

Is this play the little floating lob that is never timed right?

On a side note I remember when I got to MU in the late 90s and we ran the same back door lob to the same guy every game, and he always got it.  I believe it was Mike Bargen.

an 4 high back door lob type play is one thing.  What i beleive the poster is referring to is our stupid 2 v 1 break lobs.  Dj gets a few as does Wes, jerel does not have the hops for it and he is correct a properly executed 2v 1 should score 90% of the time that play scores 20% max!!  it is one thing to do it up 20 but when we do it in a tight game i could explode and simply cannot understand how it is allowed.

They did run a lot of back door lobs to Bargen.

Yeah,
I was referring to the lobs we loose in transition not a set play in the 1/2 court offense.

Don't outlaw the lob play, just bring back Diener who knew how to pass the ball. There is no one on this team that is a good passer. Hopefully, Cadougan can pass the ball.

I've said this since 2005.
