Marinatto will be the Big East Commissioner as of tomorrow. He's been around forever, not a surprise. Knows college athletics as an AD and has been in the Big East for a long time as a school AD and employee. His departure at Providence, as AD, was less than amicable.
I think this is good news for the basketball only schools. Remains to be seen how the football schools will view it. The fans of football schools are usually more vocal then the actual talent levels of their football programs. I suspect some screaming by their fans, but I suspect the Presidents of the schools get it.

Hopefully this puts off the splitting of Big East football and non-football schools. I really enjoy this conference the way it is.

I note that Marinatto is not a lawyer. Also, he was hired through the use of a search process that considered multiple candidates.

He's doomed to fail. ;)
