DJ's going to the Association, tell me which team needs a 5'10" PG who can't shoot or break down defenses off the dribble?
Sadly, I think Crean helped fuel this unfortunate fire early in the season by saying "enjoy him while you can." Al would never have made such a stupid remark.
without novak out on the perimeter, DJ is finding it a tough go.

Who really thought....at the beginning of the season...that James had no chance of going to the pros? While I thought it was a 50/50, I wasn't so sure either way. But can you honestly say that you didn't think he had a chance to go to the pros then? We had only seen him last year, which was a great year for him, and yes Novak helped, but if James wasn't as good as he was he wouldn't have put up anywhere close to those numbers even with Novak. 4everwarriors, I really think you should be a coach. You sound like a very smart person when it comes to Marquette basketball and strategy and what not to do....Hell lets fire Crean and hire you, cause you'd do everything the right way and win all the time and never say anything stupid and never have hard practices.......maybe nightmare could be your assistant... Give James time, he either leaves or he doesn't. He either steps up now or he doesn't, just let it go, things will work themselves out.
My understanding is that DJ told TC prior to the season that he was leaving for the NBA after this season. However this may be creating some attitude problems like temmates thinking that he's dominating the ball to build up his stats------and DJ himself getting frustrated with the system/scheme because of his lower than expected production.
This all may be contributing to less than ideal team chemistry.
If true, that's extraordinarily bad .. as it's pretty obvious his draft status has plummeted with these first 16 games .. he could really get into a funk, of his own expectations (NBA) not being met, making things worse.
Thankfully .. if Crean has one thing, it's that he's got psychological skills. I'm sure he's got his Jedi mind tricks going 24/7 on DJ.
DJ has no skills that translate into an NBA career. While he is ultra-tough, he is small, is frequently hurt and his shot is high-school caliber. His one strength--defense--will not get him into the NBA, where he would be asked to guard people five to seven inches taller than him.
He is an above average defender and can effectively guard taller players thanks to his athleticism. He also has tremendous court vision and above average passing skills. That said, I think he'll play one more year in a MU uniform and that will be a good thing for all parties involved. At the start of the season, I thought he was a lock for the NBA after this year, but it looks like he needs another year of development. However, I suppose that a lot can change between now and March. I still think this is going to be a very dangerous team in March, they're just experiencing a few more growing pains than we anticipated.
