Not to be political, but I hadn't realized until reading an article today in Ebony that the new Oregon State coach is Michelle's brother. Looks like it helps recruiting to be connected as he has landed two top gets.
Is Palin related to Buzz? We need a Sasquatch at the 5.
He was an interesting hire. He was a star at Princeton and then got his MBA at Chicago and worked there in the financial industry for many years. When Bill Carmody was hired at Northwestern, he accepted an offer to be an assistant there, and then was head coach at Brown for two years.
Oregon State was a little desperate. A friend of mine is an alum there, and he says that by far they have the worst athletic facilities in the Pac Ten. (I guess there is a state law that no tax or student fee money can go to facilites...only donor money. Oregon has Phil Knight...Oregon State doesn't.) But desperate people oftentimes swing for the fences and hit home runs, so who knows.
But despite that, JCE, they have the better baseball team (Jacoby Ellsbury's an OSU product). That seems to be the pride of OSU athletics since the days of Gary Payton.
College baseball has about as much marquis value as college hockey.
