While I'm excited (very excited, actually) to have a shot at this kid, I don't understand how we're "playing with house money". Are the other 4 finalists "playing with house money" or are we the only one preparing to declare a "moral victory" if we lose?

As it stands now, we have a full roster for 2018-19.  Wojo wrapped up his #1 target for 2018.  Anything extra is beyond my expectations.

Our guys did a great job today with Quentin and his family. They believe that they have a very good chance of getting Quentin on campus for an official visit.   

I believe our chances as good as any of the other finalist's for Quentins services. We have a lot to offer.

I think it comes from the idea that no one expects us to win this recruitment. People look at that top 7 and think "three blue bloods, three local schools, and .....what's Marquette doing on there?" I'd be willing to bet that no one on KUScoop and UKScoop views us as a legitimate threat. If we win it will be one of the biggest (if not the biggest) recruiting coup in modern Marquette history. If we lose, then it will just be as everyone expected.

But you're right that we don't have "nothing" to lose. Even though our 2018 class is already full, there is still an opportunity cost for recruiting Grimes. This is time and energy we could be spending on the 2019 and 2020 classes. There is also the potential message it sends to the current players since we are trying to overrecruit for 18-19 at this point. But I am very excited that Wojo is going all in for Grimes. I am cautiously optimistic about this process. I am close to certain that we will get an official visit. Get em Wojo!

Our guys did a great job today with Quentin and his family. They believe that they have a very good chance of getting Quentin on campus for an official visit.

It's essentially a lock he will schedule an official for Marquette, now that Arizona is out of the running. The concern is hoping he doesn't commit while on an official at a different school before he visits Milwaukee.

He has said his visit to Kansas for Late Night at the Phog will be an unofficial. That's on September 30. We might get him here the week after, on October 6, for Marquette Madness. Big Blue Madness is October 13, so coming to MM wouldn't conflict with that. I don't believe Texas has a formal Madness like the rest, especially since this is right in the heart of football season (they play Iowa State Sept 28, host K-State Oct 7, play Oklahoma Oct 14).

I'm mixed on if I want Grimes here for Madness. In all honesty, Late Night and BBM are probably the two biggest Madness events in the country. They've had to turn thousands away from Late Night before and BBM draws 20K+. As much as I enjoy Marquette Madness, it might look like a bit disappointing to have 2,000-3,000 packed into the Al.

What I mean is that we have nothing to lose by going all out for Grimes.  We are not recruiting anyone else right now for '18.  Resources aren't being spent chasing around someone at the expense of another.
