We have to find a way to limit their backcourt.

Yay

SJU played that trash Long Island team so that game has been long over.

Dont have to worry about missing the start of this one.

I'm hoping Gold can hit a few. If he does, I feel his game takes off. And, we need him! Do it!!!

Title: Re: MU/Baylor Game Thread

Omax simply has to grab that ball.

Early foul on Oso now too. Not ideal.

Gotta be tougher on that reb.  Oso can't get cheap fouls.

So a plan would be to tip a rebound to a teammate rather than grabbing it.  Whatever, if it works

If we were even decent at 3s we would be the greatest offensive alive.

We generate the looks. Just lay bricks.

D looks really solid again. Team rebounding tap outs are what we have to keep doing.

The defensive game plans would completely change if we had shooters. It’s the Bud defensive philosophy. If your bad shooters are going to beat us, then they’re going to beat us because we’ll give them the opportunities.

We are athletic enough to create the looks. Wouldnt change much if we were just semi competent.

Right now its brutal.

Omax made one though. Nice.

Don’t fall in love with the 3s fellas. Keep it within the flow of the offense. Don’t need the transition jacks with nobody there to offensive rebound and 27 on the shot clock.

Otherwise incredible basketball being played.

Chase Ross with 4 steals and 2 points.  His impact on the first half deserved even better stats than that.  He was all over the place. (That might be the first time I typed that about an MU player and meant it as a compliment)

His play to swat the ball all the way down the other end with 3 seconds left was nuts.

This is what it looks like when we hit shots.  The Sean Jones, Chase Ross, OMax lineup is total havoc.  We've got guard depth and can go hard all game long.

But. We didn't bring in an aircraft carrier or big NIL transfer.

I do not believe any MU team in history has lost after a 26 point half time lead. But then again with the exception of first four minutes, MU has not had their usual six minute scoring droughts.

Sean Jones and Ross are difference makers, they have the athletic/defensive abilities. Let’s see what Mitchell’s minutes are like in second half.  I really wished he would have made one of those wide open threes, but boy were they bad misses.

16 first half turnovers are just ridiculous.

The 2010-11 team lost to Louisville after leading by 18 points with 6 minutes to go. Heart wrenching.

And didn't Baylor have a huge comeback against UNC in last season's NCAA tournament (before losing in OT)?

I think they've scored on every possession in the 2nd half.  :(

But we're still up 26.  :)

Good timeout. MU playing bad defense, BU has hit 7 of 8 this half.  Shaka not happy with that.

Thank goodness MU hit close to that pace.

MU has only six turnovers, Kolek has 3. All are after he dribbles left, goes under basket, then jumps and throws ball with left hand.

Me too. I already argued to my Gonzaga-alum brother that MU is 13 points better than the Zags based on the Purdue game (which doesn’t even factor in that we played Purdue in Mackey). I’d love another data point.
