I do hate Syracuse for reasons I have previously stated and last night just threw fuel on the fire. Replay showed pretty clear foul on the supposed "block" by Syracuse on Gonzaga's last shot attempt that gets called in all levels of basketball 999 out of 1000 times. The problem is, you could sit in a room full of 'Cuse fans and watch that replay 100 times and 100 times they are going to say "clean block".
Did you miss the part where Cooney clearly stole the ball and kept his feet inbounds but the refs gave the ball to the Zags??

Watch the replay again Sultan. Yes, the 'Cuse guy initially had all ball but he clobbered the shooters arm as he followed through. That's a foul.

I've seen it.  That's just not a foul.  If there was any contact it was incidental long after the ball was away.  That would rarely be called.

Agreed.  Not a foul no matter what, but most definitely not a foul that late in the game.

You're putting the value of wojo in the same category as the value of boeheim? Not sure if serious

If the Syracuse admin buys his logic do they rethink the succession plan?

No he is pointing out that JB was out because he was suspended for violating a rule.  Why the NCAA took that into account is beyond bizarre.

Yup. If anything that should've further hurt their NCAA Tournament chances, not helped them.

You're one of those people who believes fouls should be called differently at the beginning of a game vs the end?

IMO, if it's a foul in the first 30 seconds or the middle 30 seconds, it's a foul in the last 30 seconds. That's why rules, written as they are, exist

+100 for every post explaining why syracuse should not have been invited to the tourney, and just confounded how the NCAA would somehow take their record during blowheim's NCAA-imposed suspension into account.

Syracuse's violations were minor compared to UNC's. You have academic fraud unmatched in NCAA history. I know money talks, but if NCAA vacated Penn State's wins and UMass' Final Four and virtually shut down SMU, they almost have to throw the book at Chapel Hill.
While you are correct, I have no faith in the NCAA.  My bet is on some meaningless bs not approaching the death penalty they deserve.

No, I stated it is not a foul at any time.  The definitely not in the last 30 seconds.  The reason there is, everything that was a foul is still a foul, but if it is questionable, and/or you are not sure of the right call you swallow your whistle there.  Earlier in the game making a call (even if they get it wrong) has less overall impact.  At the end of the game if you blow the whistle and make the wrong call because you didn't see it well, then you decide the outcome.

What is a foul doesn't change.

In a way Syracuse doing well kind of helps us via the transitive theory. Georgetown St. johns and Wisconsin all beat them. We beat Georgetown St. Johns and Wisconsin. So a modest bit of credibility upgrade for our cause.

They do not belong in this tournament. Worst inclusion in NCAA history. Not at all deserving of an at large.
Syracuse did have some big wins. I would vote Vanderbilt and Tulsa should have not been as well. Syracuse should have been in Dayton if anything. Looks like the committee didn’t look at Syracuse's loses but held it against Monmouth.

How does an Atlantic 10 school of an RPI of 38 not make the field in St. BONAVENTURE.

Syracuse typically outperforms in a tournament setting.  They have a unique and unusual style that if you haven't played against it twice every year, you are not used to and makes it difficult to prepare for in a short window.

Gimmicky teams do well in tournaments.  In the regular season with more prep time they are exposed.

Syracuse shouldn't have been in the tournament period.  They ignored their performance for the season and let them in because of reputation only.

Syracuse had five top 50 wins. Pretty good, but how does a ACC team have an RPI of 71. Looks like the committee didn’t look at the loses.

Wife just jokingly asked "why is Bernie Sanders on TV during the game" knowing it wasn't BS but not knowing JB.  After telling her...""ugh, i think he's worse than Bernie".  Marry up my friends!

Memphis still has them beat in the National Championship as major choke job.

Blow off some steam Bennett. Arnold in Commando.

Obviously Va. did not deserve a 2 seed.
