Wisconsin gives up a 23-2 run over the last 8 minutes of the game on the road to a ranked Iowa, during the melt down Davison nut punches an Iowa oponent showing clearly that Gard has no control over his players and is a horrible coach to give up a lead like that. Also a starter and leading scorer is leaving the program.
Clearly he should be fired for this inexcusable loss and failure to lead his team.
-
Dear God, no!!
I will throw in for a Keep Greg Gard Fund!
-
Davison is really a turd
-
I’d be concerned about direction under Gard if King is in fact leaving. That would be huge blow to them, short and long term
-
I think this post was meant to be sarcastic, but Gard may well be on thin ice if they collapse the rest of this year and King is gone.
-
Got a buddy in the UW loop.
King is way gone.
Closed down his twitter. Deleted any info about UW.

Would love him at MU!!
Absolutely

Are schools still allowed to "block off" certain schools (even if non-conference) when a player transfers? In other words, if Gard wanted to, could he prevent King from going to Marquette?

Not sure, but after what Bo pulled with Uthoff, I'd be surprised if they tried it.

They can’t block contact but can block getting athletic aid.
-
Not trying to rip on the kid but I think MU could do better.
He's already had knee surgery and he doesn't seem to have a big east body.
More of a finesse player.
Plus, if he's looking to be the BMOC that probably isn't going to happen at Marquette. Especially if Mane decides to commit.
I really don't get his decision. He was quickly becoming a featured player at UW.
Hell, the baggers would have probably beat #18 Iowa on the road if he had played. That would have helped MU as well.
I just don't get it.

King and Mane wouldn’t play on the same team as King would sit out next year. I think he’d actually fill a need for MU but probably not worth it. I think it will be sit one and play one with another team unless he’s granted a waiver.

Yeah, if Mane ends up being a one and done. It may turn out he's not quite as good as advertised. He's currently projected at #40 in the NBA draft so he isn't a lock.
Regardless, Dawson, Justin, and Osa as well as Symir will all have claims on the spotlight by the time Kobe would be eligible. That doesn't even factor in 2021 recruits. I just don't see him as a good fit at MU.
I may be crazy but I wouldn't be surprised to see him go to Kentucky. A Wisconsin kid had good luck there not long ago. If I recall correctly their games were fairly similar. Maybe he would be better off at a place like Kentucky.
Either way, I can't imagine him going to a lesser program than UW, which means Marquette is definitely a possibility.
-
Take it to a Wisconsin board.
-
He was an assistant for too long to be a successful head basketball coach.
-
I think this post was meant to be sarcastic, but Gard may well be on thin ice if they collapse the rest of this year and King is gone.
The rumbling is getting louder, and Gard was no where near Barry's first choice, but they are kind of stuck. Not Bo but not terrible, middling results but no embarrassment I can recall.
-
Gard has a better shot at getting chit-canned at UW, than Woj does at MU, aina?

Gard is not going to be fired.
He's been to the tournament in three of his four years, making the S16 twice. He will make the tournament again this year. He has a currently ranked top 20 class coming in next year. His contract extends through 2023-24.
If this year ends poorly, they may decide not to give the one year extension that UW usually gives. Which would mean the seat is getting warm. But they aint firing a coach over Kobe King.

I'm still puzzled as to why this class is highly ranked other than number of committments. Its a barely top 100 recruit and then 4 guys outside of the top 150.
Purdue is below them with 2 recruits higher than Carlson. LSU has a top 25 recruit, a top 140 guy, and they are behind them. Louisville has a top 100, a top 120, and the top JUCO player in the country who got an invite to Team USA camp and they are 5 spots behind them. Its just odd. By the methodology, 5 decent is better than 2-3 very good.

gotta wonder if Kobe King (from LaCrosse Central) has any contact with the Davis brothers (from Lacrosse Central).
I'd imagine not a glowing recommendation on his experience at UW.

Funny you should say that, because I was thinking Davis might be the reason Kimg might want to leave. They play the same position and KIng might see a threat to his playing time. I doubt Davis will mind KIng leaving one bit for the same reason. King is a decent player but he isn't the focus of the Baggers offense. With Davis coming in I doubt UW will miss a beat.
Gard isn't going anywhere, which is fine by me. He will never get the Baggers where Bo Diddler got them, which is good for MU.
-
Wisconsin had a win probability of 93% last night on the road against a ranked team. Blew it.
It happens all the time.
-
Since at 6'3" is a too small forward and doesn't really dribble well he's better suited for UW-Milwaukee.

Good burn on the Bore-dgers by Herro.
-
Wisconsin has a great system for unathletic dairy farmers and dbags like showalter, davison and pritzl
-
Wisco won't ever be the same. Besides Bo Ryan having a talent for bagging younger women in the athletic department, he also had great vision for developing big men no else wanted. Gard doesn't have that talent but if Wisco did fire him......where would they even go?
-
Who Cares! Worry about MU as our numbers are dwinling. Hopefully
Markus will be back. Sacar, Koby and Team did it on foreign floor.

Yea, some are calling out Katz for being a homer in that video.
-
Heard from a Badger booster that kobe wants in here
-
We will see if that really is the case, and if MU wants him, but we have talked about Mane, a grad transfer big and a traditional transfer. He could fill that role obviously.
-
That rumor happens pretty much every time a kid that is good enough to remain at the high major level transfers out of Wisconsin or Marquette. "Hearing he's leaning towards Marquette/Wisconsin!"
Maybe Wojo got the silent verbal.
What will his scholarship situation be? I believe he redshirted, but I believe it was due to injury. He'll have to sit next season and then have...1 or 2 years left?
-

I laughed when I saw that clip. Although I do agree you don't quit in the middle of the season. I don't know why Katz took it so personal. I know hes a madison grad but man calm down.
-
Would gladly take him on MU
-
Just checking if I have this straight for Kobe King...
17-18 played 10 games and then injured, so this qualifies as an "injury redshirt" year
18-19 played a full season
19-20 played enough games to qualify as a full season
20-21 would have to sit out the full year
21-22 can play the full season
22-23 would have to petition for a 6th year
-
Heard from a Badger booster that kobe wants in here
Hee kan register like da rest of us. Just hasta create his screen name and password ta log inn , hey?

Why? Greg Elliott is a far better shooter, equal rebounder, is a better passer, and has more steals per minute and game. I don't know how King's advanced defensive stats hold up, but it seems to me King is inferior overall.

Greg can't really stay healthy though. Plus if King gets his extra year, they will only be together for one.

True, Greg hasn't been very durable, but of course King was out injured for a year as well. I'd certainly hope MU shoots higher King to fill a schollie with, and the fact that they passed on him the first time around makes me doubt they'd take him anyway. The only real benefit would be seeing Bagder fans heads' explode.
-
Not sure King is a fit. Wojo likes guards who can shoot. Kings shot is a bit suspect.
-
IF he were to come to MU, i could see him developing into a sacar anim type player, slightly more athletic?

I think IF MU lands Mane and IF he's a intending to be a one-and-done, maybe King could be seen as a guy to step into a slashing big guard role that would need some help with Koby and Mane leaving.
Otherwise, there's not really a place for him. I'd rather focus on a 2021 SG like Jordan Hawkins.
-
Heard today that he also wants to come to MU, for what it’s worth.
-
Kobe King and Brendan Bailey on the court at the same time would make an interesting pair of 30 yr olds on the court for MU in a few yrs.

That's crazy stuff.
This paragraph stood out to me:
Notably, as King was getting torched on social media Wednesday night, Trice came to his defense with an online messages of support. So did junior forward Nate Reuvers and junior guard Trevor Anderson.
I don't remember - seriously - did several Warriors issue public words of support for the guys who quit on Marquette last spring?

The weirdest part here for me is that Anderson was sh*tting on King on social media until he got shut down by Herro. So...sounds like revisionist history

Why,???
Recruits don't use the Internet.
It's a good thing too, or Karim Mane might find out what a horrible coach Marquette has, and that a majority of the fan base wants him replaced.

I wish young Mr. King all of the best. When I read the articles, it reminds me that these are young men and sometimes it is just a bad fit for reasons that aren't clear to outside world. I don't take pleasure in this, because I remember 10 short months ago when the sky was falling, and accusations were being made, and Wojo is clearly the problem and..... blah blah blah blah blah.
I do take some pleasure in Badger fan hypocrisy being exposed and having yet another example of why, if my child was talented enough, I would never let him go to Wisconsin. 100% because of how they treat players and families when something goes astray. It is like a cult.

You got this right, my friend.
Gard was Bo's "associate head coach" when they screwed the pooch with Uthoff, when they messed up royally on Sam, when they missed on Looney, etc. He was the head coach when they failed to land Joey and when Herro decommitted. He then failed again on both Sam and Joey. King bolts. And F%cky Fanatics handle it all so well. They and Gard deserve each other.

I think it may be better not to have In State recruits on roster.MU is doing just fine without them.To many people to close to the program hovering around which MU has seen in the past.
-
Don't paint with too broad a brush. We have had plenty of success with in-state recruits. No need to exclude them all.

I want all the good in-state recruits who want to be Warriors, and all the good out-of-state recruits who want to be Warriors.
I'll happily accept outstanding Canadians and those from across the pond, too.
We Are Marquette!

Agreed.I guess the bad ones have left a sour taste.I think Wojo for the most part has done a good job of who he brings into the program.I do not think anybody envisioned the Hausers leaving.I find it interesting that no one else transferred after the Hausers left. Hmm?

Well, in fairness, Morrow did leave, though he didn't transfer. But I think you meant transferred along with the Hausers, and you're right. Several apparently were ready to bolt if the Hausers had stayed, though. Double hmm.

Why would you fire Gard.....
He is an average coach that runs a specific system that does not recruit the same type of players that MU wants.....
And those who go there that do not fit are possible MU transfer down the road when they figure out that they do not fit......(Kobe King etc....)
Gard at Wisconsin forever......Go Badgers......LOL!

Is there a gofundme to keep Gard? I'd consider it......

Yessir, I agree with this wholeheartedly.
Doesn't mean I can't enjoy his program's failings.

Gard's comments about Kobe King come across as very passive aggressive. Not the type of comments to hear from a coach that will miss one of his players.

There's definitely painting with too broad a brush but in Wojos experience he's lost Deonte, Duane, Sandy, Hauser 2x, Ellenson 2x, and to deal with head case Noskowiak. Vs Fisher being the only one who's stuck and is seemingly positive about his time. Can't blame him for taking some time off from WI recruits

Mentioned it in the recruiting thread but the state's recruiting is a lot of Blue Blood or mid major right now. 2019 top 100 recruits from Wisconsin-0. 2020 top 100 recruits from Wisconsin-0. 2021 top 100 recruits from Wisconsin-1 (Baldwin, who we absolutely would take, but is likely heading to a BB, or to his dad). Come on dude.
I also find it hard to be too upset with Duane's situation...he graduated.......was around the program in the summer.....he just knew he wasn't going to take playing time away from Howard and Rowsey so he went where he had better opportunity.
Heldt also stayed 4 years and was a model student athlete.

I believe I made a distinction for Duane that was separate from the others.
Forgot about Heldt my bad.
I agree a lot of others have left. I just don't blame Wojo for maybe wanting to wait till a lot of the remaining memories of Hausers and such leave in state minds before hopping back into the talent pool. That being said Chicagoland is closer to Milwaukee than half the state so I don't understand the "in state" obsession.

Just further supporting my comment; JJ is Duke bound, Foster is a top 10 recruit that is likely BB bound, and while I think Sibley will have a nice career at Gtown, he is ranked lower than all three of our incoming front-court players. Point is, there isn't a ton of opportunity for in state talent right now for either MU or UW. If UW wants to take some flyers on lower ranked in-state kids that's fine, sometimes you have to do that to fill rosters (see Detroit trio). I just don't support the notion that Wojo is staying away from in-state kids because he's recently got burned by them, he's staying away from them because they're either not good enough, or not a good fit for one reason or another.

OK, I agree with that with maybe one caveat. I think he was recruiting Sibley pretty hard until Justin Lewis committed.

I think it's Mama Ellenson who has the biggest complains about Wojo's House of Smoke & Mirrors.
There was great consternation about that ruining Wojo's future recruiting, just as there was about Hausershima.

Anyone get the feeling that McNutpuncher’s downward stare may have led to this transfer? Creepy...

Don't forget that Bo almost forced UW to hire Gard.

Pretty scathing article here in JS on Kobe’s decision to leave UW. Sorry if posted previously. Not a good look at all for Gard.

Not almost. He completely orchestrated Gard getting the job

King sounds like he might have daddy issues.
You sound like a UWm fan 🤔

Seems like the team plays better without King. They're definitely coached better than MU and frankly getting sick and tired of Madison having the one up on us there.
