Title: Missed an opportunity
Post by: CTWarrior on February 09, 2008, 01:51:20 PM
Hate to lose the noon game on Saturday because it puts a damper on the whole weekend.

We did so many things well, it really hurt to lose that game.  Notre Dame is the type of team our guards should be able to dominate, so it killed me that we didn't extend the floor more often.  I know people are enthusiastic that we made a nice comeback, but this is a team we could've beaten by 40 a month ago if we had wanted to.  Just a tough loss.

We had three or four of those swing plays where we missed an easy one that led to a runout for an ND score.  The play at the end of the first half was devastating to our chances.  I can't decide who is worse, us or UConn, at those hold for the last shot possessions.  I honestly think that during Crean's tenure here we are being outscored at the end of the game or half when we have the ball holding for the last shot.  I am convinced that we are more likely to be scored upon than to score ourselves in that situation.  We either turn the ball over playing keepaway or force a bad shot with too much time left on the clock leading to a runout for our opponents.  The best I hope for in those spots is that our inevitable crummy shot is taken with too little time left for the other team to score.
