Doc to earn $35 million over the next five years
« on: May 13, 2011, 11:42:27 PM »
Doc isnt getting DWade $, but he is getting Wes $ for the next 5 years.(and he doesnt need to worry about any Duke tuition bills!).

The highest paid doc to ever go to MU, (we should give him an honorary MD-lol),Rivers is accumulating very nice career coaching stats.

ESPN notes:

"...In his seven seasons with the Celtics, Rivers boasts a 336-238 regular-season record and has made five postseason appearances (46-34 in the playoffs). During the Big Three era, he's taken the Celtics to two NBA Finals, winning the franchise's 17th title in 2008 (and nearly an 18th before losing to the Lakers in Game 7 of the 2010 Finals).

Rivers won the NBA's Coach of the Year Award during the 1999-2000 season, the first of four years with the Orlando Magic. He was fired there after a 1-10 start to the 2003-04 campaign.

Rivers is one of only four coaches to win 300 games in Boston, sitting with an elite group that includes K.C. Jones (308), Tommy Heinsohn (427), and Red Auerbach (795)."....

Please post anything you remember about MU's best known medicine man--as its relatively quiet on other topics.

I'm kinda surprised, I thought he would retire after this season, and I didn't expect him to sign such a long extension. Good for him.

Glen is a fantastic guy with a big heart and a lifelong commitment to Marquette.  He has served on the Board of Trustees for several years and gets back to campus often, especially given his commitments.  Congrats on the contract.

Known Doc since he was a SR in HS and he still is the same guy. Wish he'd sent Austin here but he has represented MU at a very high level.

Doc just had throat surgery for a non cancerous polyp. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, and healthy outcome, Doc.
