'77 Warriors featured in Sports Illustrated, July 2 Issue
« on: June 26, 2007, 10:07:14 PM »
Sports Illustrated is having a "whatever happened to...." cover story in the upcoming issue.  Featured is the championship team from 1977.  This is quite a statement, isn't it?  Understood here is that this was a special team, not just for us, but for everybody.  We are Marquette.

AWESOME!

What a great gift on my birthday!!!  ;D

EDIT:

I wonder if the SI staff got this little tidbit of info from MUScoop?!?

Really coincidental, no?  ;)

The Warriors' outsider image is reflected in their official team photo: McGuire had them pose in tuxedos in front of a white '34 Packard at the Brooks-Stevens Automotive Museum near Milwaukee. "It was something out of the ordinary," says Ellis of the shot. It was also a fitting portrait of one of the NCAA's most extraordinary champions.

Edit #2: They misspelled MARQUETTE on si.com though...=(

EDIT #3:

Hmm, they could have.  Prior to that thread, the only place that I found talking about the car was an interview with Ellis they called it a "1934 Parker".  Of course, thanks to those here on revealing the location too!
