He's unhappy on a crappy team with tons of playing time.  Imagine if he came to MU and was 8th off the bench?

I'm not sure how exactly I should feel about this.  Mostly I think that I feel bad for the young man ... coach leaves the school he plans to attend, then he doesn't like where he ends up.

How talented is he?

He's unhappy because Crean sold him on turning NW into his next great guard and he spent most of the season down low, sometimes playing the 4.  It's not what he signed up for when he committed a few years ago.

I bet he ends up playing for a former IU coach in Davis.  Williams is from Birmingham, and it would seem like a good fit..

Crean has got to lead the country over the last 10 years in the number of tranfers of players that got significant minutes or started.  Just shows what an absolute prick and disengenuous person he is.  99.9999% of players leave due to playing time not with Tommy Naismith.

One of the comments on the IU board stated: "I kind of think they need to start worrying about evening out the numbers in each graduating class, so that the team isn't decimated every 2-3 years."

I think this is what Buzz has done and something Crean wasn't very good at.

It is always interesting to see if the transfer benefited the player or was a bad move.  With three years left to play, Nick's collegiate career is to be determined.  He seemed to be one of the few bright spots of Indiana basketball last year.  Maybe winning is important to him and he felt IU basketball would be dismal his entire collegiate career.  It is an interesting situation.

“After the season, Nick expressed displeasure with his role this year and also shared concern with members of our coaching staff about his future role in the program, ” said Crean.

I guess he saw Matthews play this season...

My bet is that E-Will turns out to be a better player than N-Will!

Nick Williams Tranferring from IU
« Reply #14 on: April 16, 2009, 08:06:47 AM »
Apparently, he didn't like his role this year.

He'd probably be starting at MU next year if he would have just stuck with his original commitment.

Well, given the way his initial commitment happened, I guess I wouldn't be surprised to see him want to take another look at MU. One conversation with Wesley Matthews I suspect would be all the convincing he would need. Problem now would appear to be PT, which I suspect would be tough to overcome, but adding a Soph in 2010 with 2 years of D1 "experience"...be just fine by me.

I highly doubt he's going to take a look at MU.  I wish him the best of luck where ever he goes, and for god sakes watch out for those used car salesmen!!

It is interesting that most of the IU commentors for that article are not upset to see him go.  They thought he was only an average player.  If that is the case, glad he dumped MU because MU doesn't need average Little Ten talent.  If his perceived averageness was because he played out of position, then it will be fun watching him light it up as a guard wherever he goes.  Fortunately for MU, I think Butler will have a much better college career than Williams.

Do wish him the best of luck wherever he does end up.

I thought he was from Mobile.  That is why I thought South Alabama.

Tommy Boy did some great things for MU, but with the amount of transfers, he must be the wealthiest snake-oil salesman in the Midwest...

John Thompson III has had 6 transfers in the last 4 years...is he too a snake oil salesman?

Tc has had a lot of transfers over the years.  I forget which year but basically everyone left mu that he recruited.

He may be, the way his team face-planted this year.

Apparently he's heading to Mississippi.
