Title: [Cracked Sidewalks] Grambling State Preview
Post by: brewcity77 on September 27, 2019, 07:20:18 AM
Looking for a second favorite team this year? If you're a fan of Milwaukee sports, look no further than the Grambling Tigers. They are heavy favorites to win their league, they are their school's best team in a generation, and despite traveling from Louisiana, they have deep Wisconsin roots.

I’d love nothing more for the SWAC to make a come back in athletics. I think the consolidation of power in the football conferences have significantly hurt them. I am glad MU continues to schedule these buy games as the revenue really helps their athletic budgets, although this has meant a SOS hit. The Milwaukee connection is certainly interesting.

Yes, the MKE angle certainly is interesting.  Again, Brew, thanks for the game review!

Another great team preview. I never would have thought that I'd find a 600+ word analysis of Grambling State so interesting. Well done.

Deontay Long matriculated to Grambling State . The plan going in is is for him to redshirt this season and get acclimated to college life . The Milwaukee connection helps.  Hopefully it all works out and the young man and Grambling find success in the future.

Gameday bump! Finals are done and we're finally back at home. Bring on the Tigers.

Do you think think Grambling is actually  going to be a decent buy game this year?  see they're down near 300 in kenpom right now.

I think they'll still tick up. I'm not sure what happened to Dallas Polk-Hilliard, who was supposed to be one of their best players. If he comes back, I think mid-200s is possible. They should be one of the top teams in the SWAC regardless, so while they might not have top-200 upside, they also likely won't be the typical sub-300 Grambling we usually expect.

Polk-Hilliard is not even listed on the roster on Grambling’s website.

I couldn't find anything news or social media related. It's like he just went nowhere.

Polk-Hillard had an appeal for an extra season denied by the NCAA.  He was a two year JUCO player, went to South Dakota State and transferred at semester after only playing five games.  For some reason, he didn't have to wait until mid-year at Grambling so he played all last year for them, but wasn't given back the extra season.
