By the end of my time at Duke, I thought that if I saw one more poster for an on-campus frat party with a “pimps and hoes” or “bosses and slutty secretaries” theme, I would lose my mind. This was just one example of the kind of daily, in-your-face sexism that was very hard to escape.

The town of Durham is awful...very little to do and very unsafe after dark. It's also the epicenter of gang activity in the whole state. The past governor created a joint local/federal task force to address the gang situation. In 2008 the student body president at UNC, Eve Carson, who was a very close friend of my son was kidnapped, robbed and murdered two months before their graduation by two Durham gang members -one of whom was fulfilling part of his initiation.

Normal dook students go to Franklin St in Chapel Hill for entertainment if not in a frat. The themed frat parties are the major source of entertainment in Durham.

Also important to remember that the majority of dook students are from wealthy, entitled familes from the northeast which gives rise to its nickname as the University of New Jersey - south campus....like many private schools of that ilk, like SMU and Vandy, the student body is mostly rich Waspy kids. Where dook differs from its other southern private peers is the significant Asian and Jewish population of the school.

As to Belle Knox....she's created quite a stir due to the notoriety and publicity surrounding her being outed in a really douche move by a person she considered a friend. In reality she's not a very good looking girl but then again for dook she's VERY good looking. The next time they're broadcasting a game from Cameron take a close look at the females in the crowd or their cheerleaders.....let's just say that they won't rank in the top 25-50 as far as attractiveness.

There are plenty of porn stars walking around campuses in SoCal they just fly under the radar and in reality, most are far less attractive than the average SoCal college girl around them.

Just curious, how old are you and how long has it been since you've graduated?

Themed parties are huge in college.  Students and fraternities are consistently hosting  "Anything but Clothes", "CEOs and Corporate Hoes", and "Golf Pros and Tennis Hoes" parties, especially at MU. A simple google image search will give you an idea of what the parties look like.  The turnout, especially from the female side is usually great--girls love dressing up and taking pictures of their slutty tennis garb.

I know of at least four guys whose friends ordered strippers to their apartments to celebrate birthdays at MU.  Who knows how many at other Wisconsin schools.  

I can't speak to porn stars, but I would guess out of a school of 38k there might be a girl who has shot a porno at one time in her life.

You could write this exact same article but replace "Duke" with any non-ultra religious college (i.e. the ones who restrict dancing or being in a mixed-gender room without the door open) in the nation and nobody would notice.

Yeah, remember that... Eve was a beauty and a driven young lady... awful. Just a random act that included a shotgun blast to the head. 21 yr old and the other punk was 17 years old. The 17 year old was later charged with the murder of another Duke student that had occurred a few months before Eve's murder.

Now THAT kind of stuff might deserve a "what is going on at Duke" or "Durham", but some beer & strippers? Yawn.

Another close friend of my son from his sister school here in Dallas was her roommate and had to identify her. That day in March of 2008 changed a lot of people's lives.

According to testimony (from various people ranging from friends of the defendants to the medical examiner), it was the shotgun to the head that ended her life.

A .25 caliber was used for the initial four shots.

Dr. Cynthia Gardner, a medical examiner who performed an autopsy on Carson, testified Tuesday that the UNC-Chapel Hill senior had actually been shot four times with a .25 caliber pistol – once to the right cheek, the back, right arm and right buttock.

She was also shot once through her right hand and the right temple with a sawed-off shotgun.

"Only one of these wounds was immediately fatal, and that was the shotgun injury to the head," Gardner said.

On a different note, we had theme party on Schroeder 10 S.

It was a  "bring your own half pint" party.  Al, the Saga manager for Schroeder was kind enough to let me use Schroeder's cafeteria bug juice machine for the weekend.  On saturday night we had it at the end of 10 S, by the fire exit door.  All guests had to pour in a half pint into the bug juice machine.  10 S was packed.

I think out stripper/porn star was Crazy Mary.  I'm sure Dedee made an appearance too. CM eventually got kicked out of dental school for dancing at Rickey's on amatuer night in front of other dental students.  Trust me, she was no amatuer.

I also remember a frosh, Mike From Thousand Oaks.  Mike was so trashed, he threw up, and passed out with his head in the urinal on 10 S.  He was seen cupping water out of the urinal to wash the puke out of his mouth.  The guy is probably a judge, minister, or captain of industry now. 

I think we all ended the evening at real chili too.

Frats at MU? 

Easy now...Greek life is growing. MU is expanding and adding another fraternity next year. The sororities all have close to 150 girls in them each and they will be expanding soon as well from what I have heard.
