If it is Cuonzo, i dont see any way this drags on til Wed. If it happens, that decision is already made.

I was reading the Tennessee scout board. A poster mentioned that his buyout goes from $2.6 million to $1.3 million on April 1st. If he is the hire, I could see us waiting for that to go down.

Did they have a source?

Is saving $1.3 million really worth facing the criticism from MU Scoop for 3 more days?

EDIT: I'm officially on the Martin bandwagon. Like what I've heard and read about him over the last couple of days.

Yet Brent has only a $100,000 buyout. Wow, that's quite a legal team at MU.

I've completely changed my tune, or convinced myself that I like the idea of Martin better than Howland.

However, my actual guess will Hopkins on Thursday.

Dwayne Stephens 4/8/2014
If we're truly waiting for a tourney team I'm thinking Stephens may be a real possibility.  MU history and fits MU's recent MO of hiring assistants.

At this point, Howland is not happening. There would be no reason for those discussions to drag out. They either want him or they don't. Not alot to work out here considering he is not employed. One side or the other passed,  Howland is not going to be out next coach. Based on his initial interest, you have to figure MU decided no.

Some weren't sure between 4/1 or 4/15, so it might not be 100% accurate. Frankly, I'd pay the extra $1.3 million just to end this thing.

Already posted that I think Stephens could be 1) in play & 2) a good choice.  This Cracked Sidewalks article about possible assistant coaches supports that notion...

  1) Dwayne Stephens -- How this guy isn't a head coach is beyond me. 13 straight years in the tourney, a ton of postseason success at Michigan State, and probably won't wait for his 59-year-old boss, Tom Izzo, to retire. He's worked with guys like Draymond Green, Derrick Nix, and Adrien Payne, turning them into stud big men. Sparty has been in the top-50 in terms of eFG% on offense twice and defense three times in the past three years, so Stephens knows where to focus his coaching efforts. Oh...and his first Final Four? It came when he was an assistant to Tom Crean at Marquette in 2003.

The most credible adviser in all this is Doc. Doc loves MU but sent his son to where he might be shaped/mentored by the best.
I think Wojo because he was shaped/mentored by the same. He will bring that here.
All of us with roots on the South Side love him already.
