Title: Wildcat game thread
Post by: real chili 83 on March 28, 2015, 04:10:13 PM
This can be a multi purpose thread where we can share in our enjoyment of the trouncing of the Rodents and also the fartsniffers (breathe Norm) tonight.

Go Wildcats.

We start up threads just to root against the Badgers and Domers.  We, here on this board, are the haters that all of the rappers talk about.  Say it with me everyone: I am a player hater.

Someone should knee Kaminsky in the balls; maybe that would stop him from flopping. He is a great player but it's disgraceful how he drive all over the place. Can't wait until LeBron knocks him into a coma.

Flopmeister Frank

What makes it worse, is there were too flops that were closer to actual fouls on the other end.  Neither called, one led to a three.

Then Frank has an egregious flop and it is called.

It's absolutely ridiculous that Wisconsin never gets T-ed up for the incessant whining they do. Literally every single foul called on them they start bitching like a bunch of pu$$ies.

I hate them, but they are the best 3-point shooting team I have ever seen. They have a great shot at beating UK because you cannot guard them. They have eight guys who can beat you from outside.

And he fouled the guy twice on that play.  The first (a reach) swiping at the ball from well out of position.

Two observations.  McConnell has the ugliest shot in the NCAA.

Arizona was having success attacking the hoop and drawing fouls and then they stopped.

Arizona was having success attacking the hoop and drawing fouls and then they stopped.

I thought the exact same. Went away from where they had success.

I think Wisconsin's reliance on the three could hurt them against Kentucky. UK has so much length on the defensive perimeter, you won't get clean looks, and no one will out rebound them. I think it's more likely a team that primarily scores inside but happens to get hot from three has a better chance of the upset.

Maybe. But I don't know if you can stop UW from getting open looks, and if even if two of them go cold three others can kill you.

Nope, they have Kentucky next.  This is their last tourney win for a while.

Seniors
Hayes
dukken
Kaminsky
Gosser

Go pro
Dekker

Without Diamond stone, at best they are a bubble team next year, most likely NIT

With Ellenson, MU might be better next year

I agree. I'm in Stevens Point for my daughter's basketball tournament and I'm watching games between schools I have never heard of so I don't have to stand in the cafeteria listening to everyone cheering.  This is painful.  At least most of the fans have had a chance to cheer for a good week or so. Since they aren't real fans the rest of the year.

Not a surprising outcome.  Based on what I saw on Thursday night, Zona just isn't that good to their seeding or ranking, but Wisconsin is impressive.  Actually thought Zona played better today than I thought....figured it would be a 10+ win for Badgers.

ND might give UK a game.   I think UW will be the toughest game UK plays all year and they almost lost a few games already.

It's nice to see  guys shoot well, pass well, rebound well and not some of the nonsense.  Good, traditional basketball.

Hayes is a sophomore. Barring major injuries, they will be back in the tourney next year, but nowhere near as good. That's why UK needs to take them out and end our misery ASAP.

UK is much deeper than last year, but so is Bucky. And there is zero you can do when a team is shooting 70 percent on threes.

If they shoot like they did today, no one is beating them. Good thing is, it will be nearly impossible for them to repeat it. That was insanely hot from deep. What gives me hope is that they shot 66% from 3 today, and it was still a 2 possession game with ~ a minute to play. If they had shot a still-torrid 50% from 3 (9/18), they might be out of the tourney right now. It will take 50%+ from 3 and likely more to beat UK. Can they do it? I'm afraid the answer is maybe. But it won't be as easy as it looked today.

People tend to say this every year. Bo has made the tournament 14 straight years. He has a system in place, and he has players that will fill the roles of others that are leaving. The Badgers might not be elite next year, but they will be very good once again.

Bronson Koenig, Zak Showalter, Nigel Hayes, and Vitto Brown return gaining valuable experience. Redshirt center 6'9" Ethan Happ is a tough player in the post. Wisconsin has many guys that sat the bench this year, but will be expected to contribute next year, and they learned a lot in practice this season. Bo is also bringing in some talented recruits. As long as Coach Ryan is at UW they will be very good!

My hope is that Wojo builds our program into a winner quickly and each year we're just a little bit better than Bucky.

GO MU!

On a side note that game was brutal to watch. 42+ fouls. Too many flops to count. Bleeding 30 seconds off the shotclock.

Some say this is good basketball. Or this is the right way to play the game. I disagree.

We need a shot clock reduction, the 3 point line moved back to NBA length and guys trying to block shots instead of flopping for charges.

I guess I'll troll all day. Thanks.

You must be lost. There's a Wisconsin scout board for badger love. Congrats, your squad shot the lights out. It happens in a one and done format. Until you start putting players into the NBA regularly you will still be viewed as a minor league program to me.
Butler made it to back to back finals with the same formula, you're nothing special.

You're a moron..

He was?  News to me.  I don't remember anything about that.

He wasn't there, but was active in Twitter.

You're a moron..

You just made the Final Four and you are on a Marquette message board.   Yup, Marquette is not a rival.  I suspect you are on the Michigan, Indiana, MSU, Iowa, etc boards, too....talk about a moron.

Rodgers does Marquette promos, we love it. He goes to a Badger game, not so much. I'm not a Packer fan but respect Rodgers. He does a lot of good and has really embraced the state. Just because I won't cheer on Bucky with him doesn't mean I'll hold it against him. Plenty of people in the state that cheer for all the state teams.

And I had forgotten, until the wife reminded me, that he has no love for Cal after they dropped Jeff Tedford.  Now that might change if rumors of Cal's incoming recruiting class turns out to come true.

I see where he's responding to those being critical of him over this.

If I were him, here's what I'd say to those people, whoever and wherever they are - GROW F***ING UP!

Which is essentially what he did say. I think it's great that ARodg is all in for everything Wisconsin.  I hope he and Olivia travel to Indy and cheer on the team.  Then they can swing by Miller Park for opening day.  Hope she has a warm coat.

Seems like it was mostly one reporter for CBS, Dennis Dodd. His complaint was that Rodgers was a fan on the court during the celebration (fans not allowed) and Rodgers wouldn't give him an interview. Well...Rodgers was invited on the court by the UW Athletic Director, and when he turned down the interview, said he was there to celebrate and wasn't there for the reporters, he was there to celebrate with the team and his friends. I'd think Dodd is also there to interview the team and those friends (likely UW officials), so why bother trying to get quotes off Rodgers?

What an idiot.

Agreed.  And then to publicly whine.  What a loser.  Sure Rodgers is a public figure but he's sensitive enough not to make the story about him.  I've had some very limited interaction with famous people and have found all that I have met to be very cool if you simply treat them like a human being.  I can imagine what ARodg and Olivia were thinking when this a*s clown stuck a mike in his face.
