Dameon Mason
« on: February 07, 2007, 05:17:02 PM »
After watching him last night against Tennessee, I think we can safely put away forever the notion that he would be contributing to this year's team.  He has regressed.   He was a complete non-entity on the floor.   No scoring presence, no rebounding presence, no defensive presence, and they would not let him touch the ball against the press.  Other than that, he did fine.
Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

I've been a supporter of Mason's, but last night he was just awful. He got yanked after a horrendous inbound pass against the press that resulted in a three point play because he fouled the guy who stole his pass. It was just an awful, awful play by a guy who, as a junior, should know better.

I still think he would be a contributor on this team, but I agree that he's regressed.

The only transfer who you can say actually hurt Marquette was Blankson, and Blankson himself regretted leaving.

Mason is well, not good.  Anybody still wish that he had stayed at the cost of one of the big three?

Blankson??  Sure, he had some great moments with UNLV in the NIT!
Seriously, there has never been a transfer that has done well after leaving MU.  Good riddance to Mason, he has NO offensive ability at all.  Maybe he transferred because Matthews and McNeal would have started ANYWAY if he stayed.

I'd say that Karon Bradley has fit in nicely for the Shockers.

Yeah, he has had his moments and is a solid contributor, but not much more than that.

Allright, I will concede Bradley, he's been pretty decent.  But he'd be the 3rd PG on this team, for sure.

How can you concede Bradley and scoff at Blankson, who would have filled a bigger need on the team than Bradley and practically averaged 20 and 10 at UNLV in his two seasons.  The bigger what-if with Karon is what-if he didn't hurt his knee his freshman year.

You want a even bigger WHAT-IF?

What if Aaron Hutchins never got into that car accident and have his jaw wired shut?

Sorry...but had to go a bit off tangent!!!

How has Bradley been decent?  at Wichita freakin' State he's only getting 20 mins of PT - and 'lighting it up' at 38% from the field.  He would have helped this team pre-Triple Threat to some degree -- but he's just a role player., one who is struggling mightily in conference play this year.  Even as a 5th year senior at a mid-major.

Blankson was the biggest loss, no doubt.

I agree that Blankson was missed the most, especially for what would have been his senior season at MU.  But, I always wonder how he would have impacted the Final 4 team.  would he have started at the 4 ahead of Merritt?  Would the team have gone to the Final 4.  Who knows.  but we made it without him, so maybe we did not miss him...??  ( oh, but that senior season.... )

I miss Niv Berkowitz most.  Then Kevin (Big Money) Menard.  Then Ron Howard.  Not for his basketball, but man can he direct a mean movie.
