So who's going to make the Wiki for Marquette team-worn and inspired shoes?!?

Marquette's most famous (or I should say infamous) shoes were the LA Gears worn in the late 1980's or early 1990's. I remember a marketing class I had at Marquette where one of the case studies was about what a disaster it was for LA Gear because the shoes were literally falling apart during a game on national television.

I think it would be really cool if Marquette was a Converse team. It's awesome to be a Nike Elite team because of the company we are in, but I like unique things and Converse could be cool.

I will get it started one day I get sick of studying for finals.

I know the styles of Nikes we have worn since we became elite.

Does anyone have a picture of when those LA Gears exploded on national tv??  Screencap maybe??

I think the story goes, Tony Smith's LA Gears fell apart in a game...

I found this clipping in the Motley Fool website (9/9/99 - no joke):
http://www.fool.com/dtrouble/1999/dtrouble990907.htm

That company had paid pop superstar Michael Jackson $20 million to promote a casual shoe line that ultimately flopped. A basketball line promoted by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar also failed to make the company a contender in the performance-shoe category because the shoes were so poorly constructed that, in one highly publicized case involving a Marquette University basketball player, they literally fell apart on the court.

I remember it well.  But I'm pretty sure it was Robb Logterman -- I'm positive it wasn't Smith.  The funniest thing was that after his foot blew out of the side of his shoe, he kept slipping when he tried to get up and run because of his sweaty socks.
