High School Coaching
« on: December 22, 2013, 08:26:37 AM »
Deonte and JaJuan have great talent.Unfortunately it looks like they have not been taught the game on the High School level, especially on defense.A student athelete is very fortunate if they have a good high school coach.Give me a John McGuire,Paul Noack,Bob Hurley,Gene Pingatore and Bob Letsch. There players are advanced in knowedge of the game.

Sometimes you can have a great high school player with a very good high school coach and still not have a player who's ready to play defense at a D1 level. If the player is the best player on his high school team by a wide margin (likely the case for most players MU is recruiting), there's a decent chance their high school team has to play zone to make sure that high-level player is not exposed to foul trouble/can use his energy to score on offense when there may not be anybody else on the team who can score in a big spot.
GO WARRIORS!

Saw several of Deonte's HS games.  That team was very poorly coached and undisciplined. Not surprised by his defensive struggles.
