Two years later, Juan Anderson makes Marquette his home

In early May, Juan Anderson felt at home. And that’s, well, because he was. Finals at Marquette were done. The basketball season had concluded March 30, over a month ago. And Anderson had finalized his release from Buzz Williams’ program on April 15. There wasn’t anywhere else he would be. They say home is where […]<img alt="" border="0" src="http://stats.wordpress.com/b.gif?host=painttouches.com&blog=28348875&post=8965&subd=painttouches&ref=&feed=1" width="1" height="1" />

How often do players ask for their release in order to transfer and then reconsider and return to the original team?   Let alone two from the same team in the same offseason?   The way their teammates treated them while they were off the team, not to mention after they returned, speaks volumes about the family atmosphere Coach Buzz creates with his team.

I'm really glad that Juan came back he seems like a true team player. As for the other reasons why he left(other than homesickness) I have a feeling that it had to do with Blue. When Blue went pro both he and Jake come back to MU. Coincidence? Either way I think Juan is the glue that that makes this team stronger. Hope you have a great year Juan.

It had absolutely nothing to do with Blue.

As others have mentioned, it had nothing to do with Vander.  Jake came back because Blue's departure opened up a scholarship.

Mo Acker did it a few years ago.

I think Jake was different than Juan ... I believe his family did not want to shell out $40+k in tuition and room/board so he can largely ride the bench as a walk-on.  I can't argue with that reason.  Then Blue left and a spot opened up and Buzz gave him a schollie.  So, he returned.

Great to read about the personal friendships between the players - that it really is about more than just basketball for this team.  That clearly comes from the attitude Buzz portrays from the moment he starts recruiting these guys.

To me, the day Juan announced he was coming back was one of the best days of the offseason.  The new commits are awesome, but Juan is an underrated "glue guy" who could have the same type of impact on this year's team (and next) that Lockett had last season.

Getting Blue's scholarship means it had to do with Blue. Blue stays then Thomas leaves. It just not a negative thing as the orinignal post implies.

Should have been more clear.  Juan leaving had nothing to do with Blue.

Nothing?  Blue leaving opened up PT on the perimeter, Juan wants to play more on the perimeter.  I agree that it was nothing personal between Juan and Vander.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

I've been told that Juan leaving didn't have to do with his experience at MU, but rather some things he had going on at home.

I don't think his PT, or position had anything to do with it.

Did you read the Paint Touches article?  In the article, homesickness is mentioned by Juan along with other things he didn't want to get into.

Yes, and I was told the "other things" were related to home.

That's just what I heard. Take it for what it's worth.

That's more than I'd heard.  Thanks for passing it on.

The issues he was dealing with at home were in part why he was homesick.

Yea, I don't have any details, I was just told: "He had "stuff" going on at home that you won't hear about." I assumed that's what Juan was referencing in the PT's article.

Glad he is back.
