Big East schedule
« on: September 22, 2009, 01:46:09 PM »
Last year are Big East schdule was back loaded, which help MU get off to a great start.

This year in our first four games I believe we play Villanova twice, West Virginia and Georgetown. I think this works out well for MU, because we were going to have trouble beating Villanova and West Virginia anyways. Getting these games out of the way may allow us to go on a late season run. Especially, since DJO is hurt and may not be 100% for the early games.

I like your thinking.  With a young team, it's hard to see them rising up and playing to a level to beat the top of the conference (but we did it in '06 against UConn) so I like getting these games out of the way. Maybe we will surprise one of them and steal a victory but I like the more winnable games in the back end of the BE schedule.  Hopefully the team will have gelled and matured enough by them to go on a winning streak to end the season.

a winning streak to end the season.

Can't remember the last time we went on one of those. 2003?

Looking at our finishes to the conference season (not counting the tourney), we went 4-1 in 2005-06 and 2003-04.  2002-03 we finished on a 5-game winning streak (followed by UAB picking our pockets every other time down the floor in the CUSA tourney), but that's easier to do when you go 15-3 in conference with 2 of those losses to start conference play.
