Excellent article in today's WSJ on Juan...
Happy for him-realized his dream.

Will need to read. So happy he signed a contract with the Warriors.
Had a brief conversation with him in Anaheim before the Wooden Tournament. We both made each other laugh. A great kid. Very happy for him.

Juan represents what I've always thought Marquette to be about.
We're gritty, hard-working and we'll take the opportunities in front of us and make the most of them.
The guy got something from his Marquette education and combined it with his desires to do something special.
Probably wasn't the guy any of us thought would make the NBA when on campus, but none of us saw what was deep inside him. The purpose of college is to help people find that "deep inside themselves" and bring it out as best they can.
Way to go Juan!!!!!!!!!

Would Juan have been better his senior year if he played with Vander? And what if McKay stayed? Would his "uber role-player" vibe have shown through with more talent surrounding him?

If all that had happened, perhaps Buzz would still be here.
He'd be happier and so would we!

Better? Probably. NBA talent level or a quarter of the player he is now? No way. We've discussed and seen what happens when players can dedicate themselves fully to the game. His growth happened in his mid 20s in Mexico and playing internationally. Also, the pro game and the college game are quite different. He could have played another 2 years on that E8 team and I don't think it would have mattered.

I also don't think one can ignore that along with everything else he has improved on, he also looks a lot stronger and thicker. He looked skinny and light in college. He has grown into his body. Can't hurt.

That's what I tell my wife everyday!
I grew into my body and I shed unnecessary adornment (hair).

I resemble that.

If he played with Vander? So are you saying if Juan had declared early and played for the LA D-Fenders?
