How bad
-
How bad
no weight on it... usually very bad.
bad for next year, this year is flushed.
-
Injured hip. Done for the night per broadcast.
-
Trolls have already its a 10-12 month injury.

Seriously. Let’s hope it’s just a bad stinger and is back on wednesday. But considering the circumstance, I’m not overly optimistic.
-
I’ll defer to the trolls.
-
I'm GUESSING a deep bruise, or possible dislocation.
-
He got a crack in his ass.

"Currently being evaluated at the hospital" - Wojo post game.
per wojo, may be possible he spends the night in nebraska... sounds like it could be very not good.

Yikes. Hate to speculate but something like a dislocated hip would be a really tough recovery

Your negativity the last few weeks. Go watch Kelly's Heros or something.

No bueno

If everything negative medically, get a good massage and chiro adjustment.

Howard at the hospital. Thoughts and prayers (and one better rip on that, some of us do believe in the power of prayer even if some want to mock it).
Get well #0

Not being able to put any weight on his right leg denotes a very serious injury. Wouldn't want to speculate at this point, but don't count on much, if any further contribution this season, from Markus.

I literally talked to 5 other PTs last night and couldn't come up with anything definitive. It's all speculation at this point. He could have been at the hospital last night because centurylink doesn't have an x-ray.
If you would ask me, I would much rather see the Howard fall than the Rowsey play from earlier this year.
-
Seriously, he has youth on his side, but that won't help this season if there's a fracture or dislocation. Time will tell.
-
I talked to the Surgeon General and Al McGuire's daughter, also I got a text from Terry Reasoner ...
It just a bad bruise, day to day
-
It's all speculation at this point.
Yep. Other than "it looked bad," that's about as much as we really know.
-

I won't believe it until I see a #donedeal tweet.
-
Seriously, it was easier to troop movement information out of the old East Germany than an update on Markus?
How hard it is for the SID to send out a tweet?
And save the "confidentiality" and "further testing" crap. They knew last night.
How about starting with if he came home with the team.
-
The SID should not be sending out a tweet regarding Markus' injury. It's illegal without his permission.

If you're referring to HIPAA, it applies to health care professionals and insurance companies. It might be inappropriate, but unless Scott Kuykendall took up medicine, he's not subject to that.

Yep. He can disclose Markus' playing status but not his medical condition. Likely won't say anything until they can announce everything. Hoping and praying that its just a bad bruise

Exactly. Tough to say watching the video. Maybe no Xray, or maybe no definitive finding on XR and needed more advanced imaging. At first I thought it was the landing, but after watching again my guess is something is torn- looks like injury occurred when he was launching?

I don’t think so. It pretty clearly looked like a lower back / tailbone injury. And they announced it as a hip injury. I don’t think it’s a leg ligament injury.

Potentially. Just looked to me like he was injured on the way up based on the way he started moving, not the impact. Regardless, we wait.

The way he was moving was because of Kyrie Thomas pushing him in the lower back. Put him off balance, and couldn't try to avoid the contact up top by Hegner.
Kind of like low/high hits in football.

I'll join the speculation and, based on personal experience, suggest a sacroiliac subluxation.

If we're going based on personal experience, I'm gonna say it's hypertension....

Well, in that case, my vote is for prostate cancer - early stages.
Seriously, watching the DePaul-Seton Hall game. Love the announcers. Who are they?

I'm going with perimenopause.

Getting permission doesn't seem like an insurmountable challenge.

Here's a crazy thought: Maybe they aren't really sure what the injury is yet?

The kids on these teams all sign waivers each year that allow their conditions to be disclosed to news media etc.
-
Here's a crazy thought: Maybe they aren't really sure what the injury is yet?
Which could very well be a good thing. Usually when there’s something obvious/serious seen on imaging, the announcement is made shortly thereafter.
-
My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Markus pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

What is the benefit of letting the opponent know of his condition?
Agreed! It would have been easy to tweet out at halftime last night, "news from the locker room, we think we can frustrate Creighton with a 2-3 zone and bit of full court pressure!" to keep us fans happy - but we don't need Creighton knowing that.
Reminds me, as an old timer, of the outrage among the public when George Allen kicked the Washington Post and other press out of the Redskins practices en route to the Super Bowl.

Save Markus!

They can sign waivers this is true. I have no idea if the team actually does. General rule of thumb is to wait on disclosing any information that could be protected until it is necessary. There is no reason for Marquette to rush announcing Markus' condition
-

He's a righteous dude.

Definitely not.

Cervical disc herniation? Highly unlikely given the injury and subsequent demonstrated symptoms.

The players are all given a very long detailed medical questionnaire, along with various other disclosures for health insurance etc This packet contains various release forms relating to health. Includes things like sickle cell anemia and other matters. Of course that does not mean the school will release this information.

I missed the game. What happened? Video?

Wow, what a different hit. It was like an atomic knee to the front of his pelvis/hip. I wonder if it was more that then the fall.

He is the leading scorer in the Big East. His status will affect the line for the St. John’s game.
So go ahead and say nothing and encourage an unscrupulous bettor to bribe someone in the Al to get inside info. If the line is set wrong, assuming he is out when he is not, it will worth it to slip a grad assistant a few hundred for a text (or Snapchat so it disappears).
Haven’t we seen enough betting scandals around college basketball? Why do we need to open ourselves to another one?
How about season ticket holders trying to sell their tickets? His status could affect resale price.
And to answer all the nerds that want to impress that they can properly spell HIPPAA.
Just call it an “injury” and give a preliminary status to his availability on Wednesday. That’s all. Details are not important, his status is what is important.

Lol. You serious Clarke?
Why do you think the professional leagues have injury reports and list how much time a player will be out and a “disabled list” to allow replacement players? All of this is driven by an desire to keep betting sharks from bribing people in the locker room.
Currently their is no line for St. John’s/Marquette on Wednesday, should come up later today. The sports books will note expectations in the line (like “No Howard“) so if that expectation is wrong, the line is set incorrectly.
Those that bet incorrectly on a line are punished by having to spell HIPPAA.
-
You might want to keep this to yourself
With one obvious exception (now two, if you're including yourself), I don't think most people on this board consider correct spelling a negative. Not sure why you've got a problem with people who actually know how to spell HIPAA. I work a lot in healthcare, and find the typical misspelling a very useful indicator that I'm dealing with someone who either doesn't know what he or she is talking about or is sloppy. However, I've never encountered anybody who is aggressively proud of the fact that they don't know how to spell it, or contemptuous of those who do. As always, Heisy, you're an interesting case.

Seems while you are all laughing at the idea that college sports can be corrupted by betting, despite it long and numerous history of exactly that happening, there is a move to legalize sports betting nationwide (including college) and this has the NCAA very worried that this will affect the integrity of college sports.
So when nationwide sports betting is legalized, and Potawatomi has a big book (including online) on MUBB, should the MU SID continue to take his time to spell HHIPPPAAA correctly rather than getting the info out about the status of the Big East's leading scorer out ASAP? (again, the specific alignment is not necessary, just his status to the team) The ruling is expected by summer and this could be the case next season.
Again, this is not about letting up an advantage to the opposing team, this is to make everything transparent to keep betting sharks out of the locker room.

If people want to bet on college sports, they can. It's not an issue. There are plenty of avenues that make it possible.

There is no such a thing as useful inside information.
Tips are highly over rated, just food for stimulating the gross at the book.
O.K. here goes.
What is our game plan? Will it work, how will it be influenced by their game plan.
What is their game plan? What is their contingency plan?
How will the game be called?
How many days rest has either team had?
How do we match up against them?
Which team is more motivated?
How about the learning curve.
Are their any big spenders betting the farm on the game?
The list of variables are endless, therefore, insider information is a joke.
I know we love mega-data, algorithms, spreadsheets, and model's, but the game will still be played and the touts will sell their tips.
