Don't fall for it.

I'm 99% sure this is Chicos.  Chicos latest trick is to simulate the user-name of "bma725," a very valuable poster who has since left this place last posting in 2011 in an epic mic-drop on Ners.

Ahh alright thanks. I do remember bma and him being a very good poster so when this new bma's posts were all negative I knew it wasn't the actual bma. Never occurred to me that it might be chicos/hoopaloop/oregonwarrior/ThinkThereWasAnotherLocationButCantRememberItWarrior/. and the many more I'm sure I'm missing.

Haanif.

I love Haanif, but unless he can run the point, I don't think he will make the NBA.

I think Luke has the best shot of anyone currently on the team. Outside shot, but I could see him being an end of the bench player somewhere.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

How are any of my posts negative, let alone all of them?

My guess on the next NBA player is the young Hauser, who has not yet committed.  How is that negative?

I'm fairly certain too - but he hasn't yet made any mistakes with his VPN this time.  But with all the NFL posts, and an email that has to do with NFL boycott, and they way he speaks, it nearly has to be.

I'm going with JJJ.  I thought he really improved the second half of last season.  He is explosive.  He can score.  I'm hoping that this year he keeps improving.  He may not be a guy that gets drafted.  He would be that 4 year guy rolling in and working his way to the league. . . .at least I'm hoping so.  Plus, I think he will have guards this year that will make him look better by getting him the ball in better spots.  I think a more successful team will get him more looks.

JJJ is a poor man's Vander Blue.  If Blue can't stick, JJJ sure won't.

I think Luke is the guy based on sheer size, but his game is pretty limited so I don't think he'd have a long career.  Haanif *could* develop into an NBA player if his shot gets quicker and more consistent.  If Sam becomes a lights out shooter, he could be that role player with his size.  If Howard is as advertised, he might make it as a smaller, quick point guard.  We have to see with both of those however.

I want this to be the case. Buy JJJ did not put on nearly enough lbs this offseason to have a shot at the league entering the draft as a senior

Plus..

...he's a marginal defensive player (though much improved)
...has questionable ball contriol with no left hand to speak of
...doesn't have a consistent outside shot

He does have good vision a quick first step, but NBA quick?

Agreed, just working under the assumption he would have ironed some of that out, putting on some of the senior year finishing touches players have been able to do in the past. I also thought he needed to put on about 15+ lbs to have a shot at the league. We haven't seen the level of improvement in his game yet (they haven't played), but I already know he didn't put on the weight.

I think back to Jimmy Butler.  I didn't think he would be an NBA all star or much less an NBA player after his junior season of averaging 14 and 6.  I know I'm being hopeful because that would be a fantastic senior year for JJJ.  Luke? He can barely make it through a full college season.

Again, where are people getting this idea from?  Luke has not missed a single game in which he has been eligible to play for Marquette University.  In fact, JJJ has missed more games, and a higher percentage of games, at Marquette than Luke has.

I didn't think he's be an NBA star, but Jimmy Butler's junior season was miles better than JJJ's.

JFB:  14.7/6.4/2.0 in 34 mpg
JJJ:  10.2/3.2/2.0 in 24 mpg

Furthermore, you could see a role for Jimmy in the NBA - a defensive stopper.  Which is how he hung his hat in the league the first couple of years.  I just don't see what role JJJ would play.

Furthermore, you could see a role for Jimmy in the NBA - a defensive stopper.  Which is how he hung his hat in the league the first couple of years.  I just don't see what role JJJ would play.

Both Jimmy and Lazar went down in the post and defended 4s and 5s.  They did anything and everything MU needed to win and MU actually won.  JJJ can't just be a wing, there's a million of those.  He needs to be the man (not necessarily on O but on D and on the boards) and do everything to show versatility to scouts.

Here's hoping JJJ has a breakout season and I agree he's going to need to pitch in all over the court to succeed this season. But, there is ZERO evidence JJJ is an NBA talent. I feel like a lot of us (consciously or not) still draw on JJJ's "promise" coming out of high school to augment what he's actually done his three years at MU. What's he's done is all that matters now and it sure ain't NBA-level.

I think a lot of people draw on his promise out of HS in addition to his consistent improvement in the 2nd half of last year. Not just one in a vacuum. From about February on, it looked like the same light bulb went off for him as it did for Vander between sophomore & junior year. He finally looked comfortable asserting himself when needed, passing off when not. He shot 55% from the field (41% from 3), 87% from the line, and averaged 14 points/game with a variety of attack options and considerably better shot selection the last 11 games of the season. That's reason to get excited that he might be finally tapping into that potential.
