Offense Against the Zone
« on: January 08, 2008, 08:57:19 PM »
Im not too sure if this is worthy of starting a new thread, but I need to emphasize my concern about our approach against the zone offense...

We can not beat teams by shooting threes! During the first half we settled for threes, which wont work. We need to PENETRATE against the zone.  I completely understand that zone defenses are designed to stop dribble penetration, but that doesn't mean we cant slash to the hoop or drive on occasion.

Hopefully the second half will be better.
Go Marquette!

We don't have a Novak anymore. We're back to the point where Dj takes a three, we know it's going to miss.

Fitz can't make a three tonight if he tried.

We're destined to see a lot of zones this season.  The thing is, I thought we'd be much more effective against zones this year.  Perhaps the last two games will prove to be an aberration.....  :'(
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

We have been attacking the zone this year until these last 2 games.  Finally starting hitting some.  FItz with what 3 or 4 and hayward had a big one?

What is really sad is our complete lack of an inside game. I think the game against ND may be our first home loss of the seaosn.

He made 4 plus the game winner.

Perhaps when Cubillan gets his shot back the combo of Fitz, Cubes and Lazar will suffice to loosen up the Huggings zone fad.

And. now and then. DJ and the big three ARE going to make their shots--or more than 30% of them anyway. On such nights MU can beat anyone. Sigh!
