The St Johns fan base is interrible condition. They hate the recent past of the team and what Jarvis did during his reign. They do not like coach Norm Roberts. They do not like most of their players.
(SeeBigeastboards.com to see the discontent) On a Wednesday at 9 PM, while in past years they would have a distinct advantage in the Garden I do not think that the same is true now. The Garden should be a fairly empty place Wednesday at 10.

I'm certain the selection committee views this as simply a conference tourney game regardless of the locale. Does St. Johns even play all their games there anyway? With the Warrior fan base present on the coast, this will have more of a homey feel.

To answer your question, it is considered a road game for Marquette per Jerry Palm at Collegerpi.com.  Any game that SJU plays in the Big East Tournament is counted as a home game for them and a road game for the opponent.  All other games are neutral sites.

St. John's calls MSG home.

RARELY do they play their games at the on-campus site.

RARELY do they play their games at the on-campus site.

This year they played 11 games at MSG (four of which were early season tournament games) and 10 games in Queens.  Most of the games at MSG were the "bigger" opponents (UConn, Syracuse, Duke, ND, Georgetown, etc.) so I kind of wonder if MSG ever has a truly home feel for SJU.  I would expect a lot of these teams bring a pretty strong crowd to MSG for those games.

Not that I prefered CUSA, but its ironic that one of the big complaints over the CUSA tournament was the fact it was almost always on Cincy's or Memphis' home court.

Now that MU is in the Big East, we're still playing on someone else's home court for the conference tournament.  The biggest difference is that the host isn't a contender this year.

I wonder if there will ever be a move to put the BET at the new Nets arena in Broooklyn?

I hope not. MSG is the MECCA for basketball in the US. Also, I would rather be in Manhattan than Brooklyn.

prior to last season the Big East extended its contract with MSG for the BET.....i cant find the duration, but i think it was for at least another decade.
