Basketball related he said we shouldn't expect TJ Taylor to have a big impact his first year.  Reminded listeners that he has yet to play a high level D1 game. He said he will have his own niche.

Buzz is such a tough nut to crack sometimes...  He said something on the segment about not telling anyone who your famous friends are (re: Barkley), but then proceeds to namedrop Tark and Martin and others.  Not a big deal, but something I notice occasionally in terms of the consistency in which he speaks.

Okay, not exactly, but Buzz made it clear that he has no problem bringing Junior College players in. He made a point to say that only Buycks and Crowder were true "JUCO" guys. DJO, Fulce, and JFB were all full qualifiers who ended up at a JUCO for one reason or another. And then he asked who wouldn't have taken Buycks or Crowder? Buycks, the local legend who could provide immediate minutes to replace the departing Amigos, or Crowder, who developed into Big East POY, a NBA draft pick, and finished his entire JUCO education in one year because the first year didn't count.

Buzz also said that when people say we have too many JUCOs, he likes that, because who wouldn't want those guys? He definitely defended bringing in JUCO players, talked about how Tark brought them in at UNLV, and gave no indication whatsoever of any intention that he would stop combing the JUCO ranks for players. If there is indeed a push from above to cut out recruiting JUCOs, I suspect they won't be getting that wish while Buzz Williams is manning the helm at Marquette.

Yea, I noticed that too. That's something I also notice in people.  Buzz has an ego, even though he plays to the image that he doesn't. I don't have a problem with it, just something to remember in some of the discussions we have about Buzz.

Agreed Stone Cold, my first thought when I heard that and then when he went into his JUCO answer. I don't think he was just talking about the outside general perception, I think he was referring to his bosses.

Sounds like JUCO issue will be a big litmus test between Buzz and MU.    Could of been cause of angst IWB reported.

Not that it matters, but he said ernie johnson was a close friend, barkley was his friend, and when the hosts brought up tarkanian he said something to the effect of  "thats my boy, just talked to him yesterday" Buzz brought up ernie johnson and barkley in response to a broadcasting question.

I couldn't tell if he was referring to his administration, MU fans, Wisconsin fans or talk radio. But it was clear someone was giving him heat over recruiting jucos and he was cleary jabbing back

I got the impression it was "people" outside of the program.  So I think it was everyone but his family(including team) he was poking at.

Have to say while I'm biased, as I was always a bit of a JUCO defender with Buzz, he makes a really outstanding point about the quality of the JUCOs we've brought in and two of them(Buycks and Jae) were the only two true JUCOs

It sounded to me like he was definitely getting jabs in. No doubt he has an edge to him and hopefully the jabs are meant for UW fans and not his employers. For the record I am Tark fan and JUCO fan.

Buzz should under no circumstances be barred from recruiting any JUCO players that qualify under NCAA standards.  Period.  With three out of the five so far being flat out STUDS, it's clearly an area we have a comparative advantage in recruiting-wise.  When you're not Kentucky, UNC or UCLA, you need to get a recruiting edge wherever you can find it (within the rules obviously).  Plus, it smacks of elitism to look down on someone just because their path to MU wasn't paved in gold.  Buzz has earned the right to bring in a JUCO player every year if he wants.  Looking strictly at past returns, this is something we should all want him to do anyway.
