Not sure where to eat (I'm far from being a foodie), but I would highly recommend going out to At Random for drinks (a little Rat Pack lounge in Bay View), if it's still there.  It's a great date place.  Good luck.

It's still there - great place. Major +1 for drinks and atmosphere. There's lots of trendy places to eat on KK just a five minute drive or less from there.

The first date I had with Mrs. Bleauteux was at La Perla. Can't go wrong with tequila.

Bottom line, don't take yourself, or the date, too seriously. You are in college (I assume). Get a pizza, a 12 pack of beer, and have fun. Don't use a credit card to impress her and take her somewhere you can't afford.

At Random would be a great place for a date, though I'd go there after dinner (dessert drinks are more their thing)  - enjoy the short walk from Honeypie (good food in a relaxed environment).

Depends what you figure this broad's potential is. Either blow your wad on Bacchus or take her to the Public Market.

It's still there.  And so are the same waitresses and tacky plastic decorations from 30 years ago.

The place has its kitschy charm, but it's a one drink and leave. I was there with my daughter last year and our server made us pay after every round.

Bryant's is much, much cooler.

Bryant's is better with a group, for sure.

If you going on a date, and you want to get lucky, A Tiki love bowl from At Random is a sure thing.

Not if she is worried that dust from that giant plastic poinsettia stapled to the ceiling is going to float down into it.

With the amount of alcohol in that drink, she won't notice... PLUS, it comes with FIRE, which is distracting.

I'd start with a drink at At Random, dinner at Honeypie, and if it's going well an after dinner beer at Sugar Maple.  Tour de Force of Bayview awesomeness.  Good people watching too

I am going on a first date tomorrow and looking for some restaurant options. I'll take all the help I can get!!

For a first date, a place like one of the Cafe Hollander/Benelux/Trocadero types might not be a bad option. Broad enough food and drink menu to have options, and it won't be dead silent in case the conversation lulls. Honeypie has been mentioned, and that's a good spot, but I've found the service there isn't great.

A hidden gem is Triskele's in the 5th Ward. Tiny place, not really near any other bars/restaurants. But the food is very good.

I would flip At Random and the beer place.  At Random is an foofy-drink place (ice cream, fruit punch, etc.)  It would be like ordering a hot fudge sundae as an appetizer.

+1.  That's a solid date right there.  And the people in Bay View make for good people watching, to boot.

I also thought about recommending Bryant's, which is an awesome place except that one of my buddies got his tire slashed outside there and another one was mugged coming out (two separate instances).

I'm going to stump for a fellow MU alum here, but for dinner... Zak's Cafe in the fifth ward on S 2nd.  Cozy, quaint, a great menu, and you're not going to drop too much coin.  My wife and I eat brunch there all the time on the weekends, and we keep swearing to ourselves that we'd come back for dinner someday.

Then - if neither of you have yet to have been - go to Koz's for an after-dinner drink & mini-bowl.
