Except in this particular case.

Not a good performance this evening to say the least.  Surprised to see chest bumping.  That was as poor a D-1 game as you will see.  Overall grade?  D.

Thanks for the honest grade, I’ve seen this movie before, makes me even more puzzled as to how they lost in Milwaukee, only 2 wins out of bubble talk, a hard season to swalllow...

Yeah, I saw Carton chest bumping and thought, "WTF is wrong with you?"

They’re young and won a game.  They are happy.  If they weren’t something would be wrong.  They’ve worked they’re asses off this year.  Don’t confuse your disappointment with  their desire to win and satisfaction with winning.

FYI I don’t like the results of this year either.

Let’s play DePaul every week.

We'd at least be .500!

On that note, MU will end the year with the same, or 2 more conference wins than Xavier.   And they'll stay above us in the standings.  These covid unbalanced schedules suck.

I assumed it had more to do with the fact he played a good game and had a nice dunk that would be on ESPN vs the fact they beat arguably the worst team in P6.

Honestly they're lucky to have avoided Nova twice, @ UConn & @SHU (and potential bad losses to DPU).
BE Wins: MU, PC, SJU, @BU, BU, CU
BE Losses: @CU, SHU, UConn, @SJU, @PC, @GTown

On paper the Ws & Ls look about the same as MU.  They just avoided many games they likely would have lost.

LOL, ok, let's review:

For all of the ridiculous talk that the UNC game saved his job (totally disagree with the fact it had any impact), losing tonight will probably move the needle.

"All the ridiculous talk" didn't exist. No one said it saved his job.

Hopefully you and silent verbal got a package deal on that strawman.

It did from several posters.

The wonderful thing about this site is that you can look back through my posts and actually see in real time when I said how ridiculous that talk was. I’d suggest you do that before saying anything about me in the future.

Due to the wonderfulness of the site, I was able to look back through your posts to before the UNC game even got scheduled and couldn't find a single instance of you saying how ridiculous that talk was.

Now, it is possible I missed it, and if so I'm sure you can correct me. But I suspect the lack of such posts was because no one seriously posted that the UNC game saved Wojo's job.

I dunno, maybe you are confusing you with another poster.

Ditto.

College athletes react in the moment. They're not thinking, "Well, we are supposed to be a lot better than DePaul, the game was ugly, and the season's really not been good. So even though we won, let's just walk off the court with our heads down like our dog was just shot."

I work with them every day. Trust me, they are not. Even if you don't agree, we can agree that they are less grown than those criticizing them.

I don’t think they would want us treating them like children.

I don't really understand grown men criticizing other grown men for celebrating winning a basketball game either.

Allowing them to celebrate a hard fought victory (which it was) is not the same as treating them like children. No participation trophies, no juice boxes. Geez some of you can be such arseholes about our players finding a little joy this season.

Let them celebrate and pretend for a night that they are a decent team.  Their celebrating doesn’t change what they are as a team.  In a way it affirmation of some of what is wrong with this team.

It's much better that we won but I was disappointed with how we played and surprised with the chest bumps.  At the same time I/we shouldn't criticize them for enjoying the W.  However, the sad truth is this program is pretty much at the depths of Hell.  It's depressing that this is crystal clear and tonight just reaffirmed how we have to basically start over.

Then you don't understand correctly.

--You claimed there was "lots of talk" about how the UNC game saved Wojo's job

--I said there was no such talk at all.

--You said, yes there was, then bowed up and said I should review your posts showing you reacting to such talk in real time, and do so before ever saying something about you in the future.

--So I reviewed all your posts to prior to the UNC gaming even being scheduled, and there were no such posts by you...because there we no serious posts be anyone claiming the UNC game.

I will never understand grown men feeling the need to criticize college students for celebrating winning a game.

Yep.

In a strange way, those who always want Marquette to win (rather than those hoping for a loss to build an iron clad case against Wojo) got their wish and those hoping for yet more evidence of Wojo's incompetence as a coach also  got their wish. To me, an ugly win beats an ugly loss any day.

Q.E.D.

So we’re on the same side but you’re very confused.

There was talk - Not from me. Mainly from $5 bitcher and some others.

You then used my quote where I said that talk was ridiculous.

The only thing you’ve proved is you’re confused. What are you even angry about?

Actually 5Cent's main argument was that the UNC win - and any win, really - contributed to Wojo's job being saved. But he did clarify that no one win did.

That's why he was actively rooting for us to go 0-27 this season. And that's why those of us who had the temerity to be happy that our alma mater beat Madison and Creighton and, well, anybody, were actually somehow hurting the program by being "blissful idiots."

Every win should be celebrated by the players and especially this year.  The effort and passion involved in getting better, competing and winning every day can't be shut off at a drop of a hat just because we as fans are disappointed with the season or the state of the program.  Huge effort by DJ.  Chest bump the night away young lad!

If Lovell and Scholl are basing their decisions on single games and the UNC/Butler games swung them from a firing decision to keeping Wojo, I think we are screwed with or without Wojo.

Luckily for us, I think they are much smarter than that.

but doesn't that mean they are not taking my personal disappointment into consideration? As a middle-aged guy sitting on his couch I'm personally offended they are not acting the way I expect them to. Don't they know I'm overly emotionally invested in something I can't control?

Nope. I am quite clear. You claimed there was such talk, and I said there was not and that was a strawman. So then you claimed you had reacted to such talk in real time, but your post history shows you didn't have a single post on the subject.

If there was "all this talk" about "how the UNC win saved Wojo's job" then please show your posts where you reacted to it in real time.
If you think for one second that I am comparing the USA to China you have bumped your hard.

This thread is littered with posters saying the win potentially saved his job. I was not one of them.

You then quoted me saying how ridiculous those posters were.

If you’re PO’d about me not responding to $5 bitcher et all. in real time then get a life buddy.
