Who's going to Boise?
« on: March 15, 2009, 06:56:37 PM »
I plan on going... looking at flights and it is quite expensive.  Checking all airlines on expedia, roundtrip from mitchell is $650.  ouch.  chicago is not any better.  Any ideas?

Who else is in?

I have looked at as many options as I could. Flying out of an airport 3 hours away to flying into an airport 6 hours from Boise and driving. There is nothing chepaer than $500 that I could find. I was going to go, but can't afford the airfare.

BTW, anyone going to Boise for our games:

Boise is pronounced BOY-see not BOY-zee.  The 'S' sound is prominent, and if you don't pronounce it with the 'S' you will catch some crap from the locals.  You have been forewarned :)

Flights are tough - no driects from Chicago that I saw, and not knowing when the game might be over on Sunday makes it tougher to book a return.

Anyone have any luck?  I just looked at United and they want like $860!

a few friends today were talking about chartering a jet...roughly $5400 for 12 ppl, expensive but a good alternative to a $650 airfare and 3 layovers...

That's only $450 a man.  Round trip?

It is jsut brutal trying to get to Boise - wow.  It's like 12 hours or more, and then you mostly can;t leave Sunday, have to wait until Monday.  Still looking into how I can swing this....

Thanks - Direct is good - was it American or United?  I've seen flights for $800 + RT.  Did you get a round tripper with a Sunday return?  Just curious as don;t have any idea what time the game may be on Sunday.

That's my plan - getting to Boise it way too difficult - was trying to coordinate with freind in California.  On to Phoenix - I hope we make it there- will be much easier to get to!  Go Marquette!!

I also hope they make it to Arizona.  My wife and I will drive down from Vegas to cheer them on!

Sorry, hadn't checked the board since.  I think it was United.  We did a round trip with a Monday morning return-just in case.

5 Years - Flying united out of Chicago as well... originally booked the flight you have at night, but switched it to the morning direct one.  It was on miles so there wasnt a change fee shockingly.  Headed back monday morning via Denver.

Here's the list of MU sponsored events thus far in Boise...
http://www.marquette.edu/alumni/events/basketball.shtml

Btw - I still have 1 great ticket available if someone needs one.
