Finished Fallout. As a huge fan of the games, I was impressed. They NAILED the look. So many details were perfect in recreating the scenery, costumes, and props from the game. Couldn't believe how many easter eggs they worked in. We got to see a frickin Junk Jet in action! The tone of the show was also on point, absurdity with grave undertones. I wasn't sure about having an original story instead of following one of the games but I like the direction that they went. I'm excited to see where they go from here.

Wife and I tried to watch this together. Like TLoU, I played the video games and she didn't. Unlike TLoU, there is a universe established over decades that this game operates in, and she felt the learning curve was too steep.

As a fan of the game, I was surprised how little context they gave and how they just threw non-fans into the deep end. I kept waiting for some explainers on things like The Brotherhood of Steel, the Enclave, the Invasion of Alaska, why everything looks like the 1950s had a baby with Lost in Space, etc. They never came. My wife never played the games and she said she had no trouble following along and enjoyed it but I wonder how much of that is because she's heard me talking about the games before.

Didn't even know Fallout was based on a video game until my son told me, and the details you mentioned that were left out appear to have not really mattered to the overall story arc.

It was no The Last of Us, but my wife and I enjoyed it.

My daughter and her boyfriend are watching Game of Thrones. They're about halfway through S3. I'm trying to think of an excuse to watch S3E9 with them that won't tip them off to the complete mayhem that is coming.

Started Manhunt the other night, really loving it so far.  Happy to see more Anthony Boyle, he's on a heater.  And Menzies is always a stud.

Speaking of, kind of hilarious that Apple+ has this big push with American historical pieces...filled with British/Irish actors.

It obviously happens all the time in movies and TV, but I think its just noticeable since they are American historical dramas based on real Americans and the concentration of them/all Apple produced.

It obviously happens all the time in movies and TV, but I think its just noticeable since they are American historical dramas based on real Americans and the concentration of them/all Apple produced.

The colonial / American Revolution period pieces I always thought it made some sense as they may have had more of a British accent back then.
It took me awhile to realize Henry Cavill was British as he was always playing a role with an American accent.

The English accent you hear today is not what you'd have heard at the end of the 18th century.

There are a couple of really neat (nerdy) youtube videos of the differences, but I think that the England accent from that era most likely sounded like the outer banks of NC where there has been a fairly insular community for over two hundred years.

Here, let me send you down a rabbit hole.

And then there’s The Veil, which casts the very American Elisabeth Moss as the lead character - a British spy. Her accent’s not great, and it was distracting at first, but we like the show … so whatever.

Wife stumbled on White Collar (so I have stumbled on it, too). Light, maybe a little simple, little cheeky, classic white collar hacker partners with the FBI agent who caught him, underlying mysterious love. Only watched a handful of episodes, not normally my kind of show, but it’s not terrible as a brain break.

Very entertaining so far.  Some wry humor, which is perfect for anything involving Franklin.  Some good historical nuance (for example, Louis XIV's love of locksmithing is shown multiple times), fantastic cast.
