-
No,
They will be lucky to make the nit. I hope they prove me wrong.
-
Nobody knows dude.
Relax and enjoy the season
-
Barring any horrific accident id say we'll make the 2k Classic tournament

Some of y'all sport wood for da vegas post season tourney, hey/

So, will a team that failed to make the tourney WITH a first round draft pick, with very little returning size, with no clear leadership, with multiple new pieces, without a set point guard, ..... are you getting the idea yet? Far too early to tell. So, opine. Justify your opinion. Just like the rest of us.
My opinion? I am leaning toward 'no'. It will depend on what offense and defense Wojo runs and whether or not he can get them to play defense. My first instinct says there is not enough size after Fischer and Heldt. With the exception of Sacar, all of MU's 6'6 guys are skinny. I fear MU getting exploited under the basket, both offensively and defensively. However, a way to mitigate that clear weakness is to pressure and run. All over the place and all of the time. Wojo has a bunch of guys with similar skill sets and of similar size. Use the depth and try to wear other teams down. Finally, MU needs to make shots. Particularly from distance.
IF the 13th scholarship is used to pick up a serviceable 1-year rental big, I will change my vote to 'yes'.

This begs a question ...
Which team is better? Next year's team or last year's team.
Given what you said above, which I agree with, I say last year's team.
As you noted, I reserve the right to change my mind when/if the 13th schollie is filled.
Thoughts?

Yep, staying alive with the same old stuff.

Unfortunately, at this time I see us falling just short of the tournament. First four out type territory. High seed in the NIT. However, we have enough wild cards on the team that could swing us to a better than projected finish. Of course those wild cards could also underperform and send us to an 8th place finish in the BEast.

I was going to say something very similar. Well done.
-
I boldly predict some year we will.
-
Make the tourney?
I'm trying to decide if we'll be a No. 1 seed or if we'll have to settle for being a No. 2, as Villanova was in 2016.
-
I do believe we'll be better than last year. We lose Henry, but that's all. We also add Reinhardt, Rowsey, and Howard. A very young team now has some experience as Carter, Cheatham, Wilson, Cohen, etc should all be improved.
Does that get us in? Don't know. Hope so, but think that we'll be on the bubble. Hope it bursts in our favor.

Have to ask the question again and again as the opinions change over time.
So if you done with your awkward attempts at trolling, please answer the question. Which team is better, last year or this year?

What would have changed? Oh yeah, Ike Eke committed! Wait, that doesn't help. Oh yeah, we've now see the team competing out on the court! Oh wait, the earliest time we'll see that is October.
You can also probably come up with an idea of people's thoughts on this based on their responses in here and in the thread on their expectations for next year. We know what last year brought. If people say "bubble" or "NIT" or "more wins" or "at least 9 wins in the BE" I'm thinking they might think next year's team will be better.

We're in. More experience More time together Were in.

And more shooting.
There's just that pesky little rebounding thing.

There's just that pesky little rebounding thing.
Steps for success:
1. Don't miss any shots so there is no need for offensive rebounds.
2. Foul them on every play so we don't need rebound except for off a missed free throw.
3. Win national championship.

Is this your new schtick? Anytime you are challenged or you simply don't like what somebody says to you (or about you), you accuse them of "trolling"? This is at least the second time you have done so in less than 24 hours.
Sounds like the rantings of a ... troll.
Nicely done, Mr. Smuggles!

I think this year's team is totally different. Last year's team had very little chance of beating Villanova or Xavier. This year, because of three point shooting, I think they have a chance of beating the best teams in the conference. However, teams that depend on three point shooting also have a better chance to lose to the lower level teams. I think each game will be harder to predict the outcome. Overall last year's team is better, but this team will beat a very good team at least once.

What’s that? Ah ... tourney? Don’t talk about ... tourney? You kidding me? Tourney? I just hope we can win a game!

This is basically my stance. It looks like we will be a better team than last year. However, not that much better for a lock for the tourney. My guess is that we are sweating Selection Sunday and then arguing whether the NIT game should be played at the Bradley Center or US Cellular Arena.

It's the Panther Arena.

There's this guy named Bola.

There's this guy named Bola.
Heard some mixed reports as to our interest and his availability. Olaniyan was one of the first guys that jumped out at me as the exact type of grad transfer we need. If we could land him and get 20 mpg, that would really change my expectations for next year. His rebounding percentages are insane. It's not just that he averaged 8.8 rpg, it's that he did it in 23.5 mpg. That's freaking awesome.

With that name makes the decision a little easier to play in the Bradley Center!

PLAYOFFS!...YOU'RE TALKING PLAYOFFS! [ a great rant ]
I think we will surprise some people with our shooting, I think we make the NCAA.
It's time for optimism.

Actually, no. But my point requires comprehension of logic. To wit.
"A Phrase to Watch
Not long ago, I gently noted (again) our frequent misuse of the phrase “beg the question.” I pointed out that in precise usage, it does not mean “to raise the question” or “to beg that the question be asked” or even “to evade the question.” Rather, it refers to a circular argument; it means “to use an argument that assumes as proved the very thing one is trying to prove.”
After my latest complaint, which included several examples of lapses, a couple of colleagues asked if I could supply some examples of the traditional, precise use.

.... I’ll try to clarify the meaning with a pair of made-up examples. Imagine that we’re discussing Lindsay Lohan.
YOU: I can’t understand why the news media give so much coverage to Lindsay Lohan. It’s ridiculous. She’s not that important or newsworthy.
ME: What? Of course she’s important and newsworthy! Lindsay Lohan is a big deal. Why, just look at the newsstand. People magazine, The Post, you name it. She’s everywhere.
YOU: That begs the question.
ME: Huh?
Your use of the phrase is correct. In arguing that Lindsay is important enough to merit heavy news coverage, I cite as evidence the fact that she gets heavy news coverage. It’s a circular argument that begs the question.
•••
But imagine this conversation.
ME: I can’t understand why all the news media give so much coverage to Lindsay Lohan. It’s ridiculous.
YOU: I’m sure they do it just to sell papers and magazines.
ME: Yeah — which begs the question, why do people want to read about her?
YOU: That’s not begging the question. That’s simply raising the question.
ME: Huh?
My use is incorrect, though it is becoming extremely common. "

It might have something to do with this.
"Olaniyan, a fifth-year senior, was suspended for three games early in the season for a violation of team rules."
