Quick google search seems to say that this was a semi-truck, not a normal truck. Herd of bison had congregated on a road and there was inclement weather that could have impacted the semi's ability to brake in time. The semi didn't directly kill all 13 buffalo, some were euthanized due to the extent of their injuries.

The Bison genocide is one of the most disturbing and disgusting chapters in the history of our country. I'm not saying this was intentional but it's important to remember their tragic history the past 150 yrs.. We've done an inordinately crapppppy job of protecting these majestic animals.
