First shocker...Sparty not a 1 seed? Cool. More ammo for Izzo.
-
Nova with a tough draw
-
I smell Butler getting hosed.
-
Unless I missed it, no BE team in the west. Does that mean Four bids for the conference? (Nova, X, SH and Prov). Butler hosed?
-
My first thought was Vanderbilt has no business being in the tournament.
My second thought is they are over valuing the SEC, which may mean the BEAST gets screwed. Only two brackets left and we only have 1 BEAST team in.
-

You don't have Xavier in?

Xavier?
-
Wis/Pitt first round. Xavier 2 seed, Seton Hall 6 seed.
-
fixed above
-
Providence 9 seed vs USC in first round.
-
Seton Hall/Zags round 1.
-
More thoughts.
UNI upsets Texas
UWGB upsets A&M
We get to see a 11 vs. 14 game.
edit: Let's throw in VCU over Oregon state to make the West a totally busted bracket.
-
Butler is in too. Half the conference.
-
Can't believe Syracuse made it as a 7 seed.
-
Can't believe Syracuse made it as a 10 seed.
-
This selection show is the worst. More is not always better.
-
Xavier over Wiscy, fun
-
Selection show analysis paralysis
-
Thank god the bracket leaked online and stopped watching.
-
How are you guys finding these out before they are even unveiled?? I'm watching it and havent even started the last two brackets yet

It's been leaked on twitter.
-
Not looking great for Butler unless they put 2 BE teams in both regions left.
Crazy there is a region without a Be team.

Thats horrible. 19-13, woof
-
So who got hosed?
-
So who got hosed?
Idk if they got hosed, but I posted this in the NIT thread. SDSU missed with a #41 RPI. Nit bubble going to be very strong (MU is #110)

Twitter Bracket attached:
-
Butler is in too. Half the conference.
We must be in the other half.
-
Butler gets in.
Good
-
I think this is the worst job the committee has ever done. Teams like:
Syracuse
Vanderbilt
Tulsa
Have no business being in the tournament. Teams like Monmouth/Valparaiso/San Diego St/St. Marys got screwed.
-
They way over ranked the ACC.
-
They said Seton Hall was the last team in. Did I hear that right?
-
They said Seton Hall was the last team in. Did I hear that right?
Yes. They're a 6 seed. And won the auto bid.
-
I like IU v KY with all the drama about the home and home going away
-
I like IU v KY with all the drama about the home and home going away
Also Texas v Texas A&M
-
I am also liking the lineup in providence as I will be there

+10000 How the hell does Cuse get in with a 72 RPI?? Tulsa with two losses to Memphis and gets in??
-
Is it largely because we have more metrics to rank teams or does the Selection Committee keep getting worse and worse?
-
The committee basically said performance on the court doesn't matter (with Syracuse), just have your coach sit out a while because of violations and we'll ignore all those losses and completely ignore the fact that with your coach you went, 1-5 down the stretch.
-
Those selections were as bad as the show.
Am I crazy or did they skip the analysis of the third region? Adjustment to the leaked bracket and the vitriol online?
-

In that case, they should have ignored all of Michigan St. losses when Valentine was out and given them a 1 seed.
-
They said Seton Hall was the last team in. Did I hear that right?
Yes. They're a 6 seed. And won the auto bid.
They meant the last matchup being announced, not the last team in. Last team in would be in the 11/11 matchups.
-

I agree. They were completely inconsistent with what they valued. I agree with the ESPN reaction, that they basically said it doesn't matter what you do out of conference, it only matters what you do in the power conferences. If you are not in a power conference, then win your tournament or sit. Its absurd.
Compare, Syracuse/Vanderbilt/Tulsa to our performance against top teams. We compare very favorable with the exception of RPI. The point is that Syracuse/Vandy/Tulsa are closer to fringe NIT teams than fringe NCAA teams.
-
Cuse getting in was awful.
Cuse getting in without the play in is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen in my lifetime...not just in college hoops.
Idiots. All of them.
-
Another thing. They claim that they do not try to set games up, but:
The decision to make A&M a 3 seed and UK a 4 seed is idiotic and would only be done if they were trying to set up:
Texas v. A&M; UK v. IU
-
Michigan? Vanderbilt? Syracuse? Pretty sure Mac was talking about a couple of these teams going to Vegas.

Just curious, what seeds do you think those 2 teams should've gotten?
-

Flip them. UK just beat them head to head to win the SEC tournament.
Kentucky: RPI 11
A&M: RPI 18
Add to it that IU should probably be a 4, and that Texas should be a 7 and there is a lot that seems to be "set up".

Agree. Did UK beat A&M like three times this year? Yet A&M gets the 3 seed and UK the 4 seed?
-

Cuse was 19-13, including 3-9 on the road, lost five of its last six and was recently caught cheating. But they sometimes sell 25,000 tickets, so they get in. Disgrace.

This is what bothers me. They get to play most non-conference games at home. Monmouth and others play them on the road.
If you made these mediocre power conference teams play all their non-conference games on the road, they'd be crap. Monmouth would have outplayed them this year.
They get to beat up on competition at home, hurting the lower tier conferences reputation and boasting the power conferences.
They set up an unbalanced beginning and use those "artificial reputations" to show how good the mediocre power conference teams are.
-
Not normally a fan of Coach Cal but he is killing it on espn. Going after NCAA for what they seed with is it RPI road wins schedule it is a floating target. A&M a 3 seed after he just best them
-
A&M beat Kentucky earlier in the year.
-
A&M beat Kentucky earlier in the year.
They played twice. Once at A&M, where they won a close 2 pt game at home. The other on a neutral site, Kentucky won.
Neutral site victory should take precedence.

Disagree. Neither should take precedence. Head to head should not be a metric at all because when most of the 351 eligible teams don't play head to head.
What matters is overall resume. Cal's argument is as stupid as if Kevin Willard went on ESPN and said they should be seeded ahead of Nova because of yesterday's result.
If the contention is that Kentucky had a stronger overall resume, he has a case. If he's basing it on one overtime result from earlier today, he's a myopic imbecile.

I agree with Cal that their game was completely meaningless today as are all Sunday games.

Cal's point was he has no clue what they look at. Is it RPI? road schedule? non conference? conference?
-

That's always been the case and that's the fault of the conferences that schedule games on Sunday. Conference tournament games have always been overrated by fans and pundits.

I don't think they should get in, but not sure I buy the the ticket argument. They are being sent to St. Louis....not sure that is going to do anything for tickets. They shouldn't be in because they were busted and their coach on the sidelines because they got busted.
-

They split the season series. Both games went to OT.
A&M 5-0 against top 50 RPI
Kentucky 2-2
There's your difference

Hilarious it was leaked. CBS punished for dragging out the sleeper of a selection show.
Thats horrible. 19-13, woof
A final snub whine from Boeheim would be more fitting than gifting him a 10 seed.
-
Didn't have a computer at the time, but watched the show. Big snub that not ONE of the 5 CBS analysts had a Big East team in their final 4. I know I'm a homer for the BEast, but would have though someone would have mentioned Nova or X.
Hope the BEast represents well.

Xavier's draw is insanely tough. Can't see them making it out of that bracket. Trade places with Michigan State or Oklahoma and I'd pick them to make the Final Four. But UNC, West Virginia, and Kentucky could quite possibly be the toughest 1, 3, and 4 seeds in the tournament.
And Kansas is the most proven team in the field with Nova getting a really tough 7 seed in Iowa in the 2nd round.

Total joke that nova and Xavier are not swapped.

Yea, Nova got a rough one. Michigan St is gonna cruise on into the Final 4. Death, taxes, Izzo in March.
