It’s in our nature to yank on doors. When we visited Xavier when he was still in high school we found an open door at Cintas, crawled under a mostly closed gate in the concourse, and explored the arena. Rest assured that if there’s a way in, we’ll probably find it.

Looking further, maybe a few things will be open. What the heck is a rec plex?

I believe that’s the gym in Straz Tower. I think it was a YMCA for awhile.

Hah that’s funny. We went to a Brewers at Reds series during what I think was our coaching search that resulted in hiring Buzz. We stopped by the Cintas and walked right in. Ran into Sean Miller, who just said, “Good to see you guys again” as we crossed paths.

Has anyone tried Indeed Brewing or Urban Harvest Brewing?

Been awhile since I've had anything from Urban Harvest, it was fine. I prefer Indeed to them. Nice taproom too.

I’ll second Indeed. Mobcraft is good too. Skip Broken Bat. Lakefront is overrated IMO.

Lakefront is the OG.  Having said that yeah, its a bit uninspired.

Indeed is actually out of MN, IIRC.

Lakefront also has an awesome location. But I just think their beer line-up need a re-work.

Yeah agree.  Keep RWS, Fixed Gear, and East side dark... the rest are beers I won't really ever choose.

They tap some interesting ones at the brewery. Test batches of some new stuff.

The Pistachio Ale is pretty solid at Indeed. I like grabbing Sobelmans and bringing it over to Third Space.

Been a while since I was there, but agree the last few times the overall line up wasn't inspiring.

That said, I recently opened one of their Black Friday specials from 2019, the Fruitcake, and it was absolutely one of the best beers I've ever had.

Thanks for the input on Indeed and Urban Harvest as well all.

Looks like I will be heading to the Great White North later this year.
Looks like they have added a ton of microbreweries.
Any to recommend? Any to avoid? Are some still Marquette connected?  I am more of a ale guy than pilsner.

Looks like Mobcraft, Broken Bat and Indeed (mentioned upthread) are all close together.
Was also looking at Wizard Works.

I'd go to Indeed in that list, and that's about it. I've yet to have a beer from the other three that I've liked.

If you wanna stay close to downtown I'd say Third Space, Eagle Park, Lakefront, Central Waters taproom in the Pabst complex. If you're willing to venture- 1840 in Bay View, Company and Amorphic in Riverwest, Hacienda on North Ave.

I'd recommend City Lights...it's in that cool tower in the Valley around 25th

1840 is top of my list, but I love sours, fruited sours, and gose, which they crush.

That does look cool. Might have to check that out. Sadly, it will be in winter, but that place looks like it could rock in summer.

Obviously MKE is optimized for summer but there are a few really good winter options.

3 of the 4 corners of Broadway & St Paul in the 3rd Ward have cold weather seating (not sure if Wicked Hop's goes 12 months).

Benelux has domes on their roof (call ahead) and the Tiki Bar becomes an Ice bar and it’s amazing.

Also the Swinging Door (2 block north) is an INCREDIBLE winter bar.

We kayaked there for my brother in law's bachelor party.  It was very fun.  Stopped at the Twisted Fisherman on the way back.

[City Lights] is an excellent place to meet up before Brewers games.  Close to Miller Park, they run a shuttle, and its pretty easy to get to from all directions.

Hopping on a plane tomorrow morning and returning to campus for the first time in 30+ years. Damn, I'm excited.
