Great defense by Stevie. Not sure how a jump ball was not called but I’ll take it.

Who was saying Mitchell should lose minutes? One of the worst takes I’ve seen on here in a while

Sometimes really good teams come out completely flat and sloppy.  Many times it’s on the road or ends in a bad loss/upset.  If they find a way to win, it’s a gift of an outcome for that scenario

JWags,

This was what I call a "dud" game.  I'm not saying we took Butler lightly but our heads were not in the game and we were very fortunate to win.  All teams have at least one or perhaps two dud performances a year but we need to find our game on Tuesday.

Yes. And for at least 3 hours, we have sole possession of the top spot in the Big East.

Yes.  And we won with our C-/D+ game.

All that matters is a win is a win.

It had all the makings of a trap game.  Yet we still gutted it out.  Butler is so bad that it’s hard to get a good flow going.  We were lucky to get the win but it’s also a good wake up call.

On to UConn.  We are going to need to be better Tuesday.

Maybe at the end of the day, struggling like this will force us to be more locked in from here on out?  I thought we were inordinately sloppy today.

Pretty crappy effort on National Marquette Day.

I knew the victory was in hand when this one dropped.

Purdue is about 80-90% Edey which could be an issue in the tournament.

I hope when we look back at this game we will see it as just a dud and not a sign that the league is figuring out how to defend MU and/or that the younger team is starting to wear down physically and mentally as the season enters its fourth month.

The offense the last two games looked nothing like one of the most efficient offenses in the country.

Looking forward to Tuesday where a win, no matter how ugly, would be very welcome and not just avoiding a bad loss.

If the scouting report on MU is "be really slow on rotations" then I think Shaka can figure it out
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

the scouting report may be to pack the lane, take away the back cuts and passing angles, and take your chances letting MU shoot 3's.

With one addition (pay attention to Kam Jones everywhere, including the 3 point line) I think that is the current scouting report on MU. I think most teams would prefer OMax, Kolek, Stevie, Ross and even Joplin shoot open 3s rather than have Kolek (and at times Oso) carve them up with passes that lead to lay ups or dunks.

Yes.  That's basically been the scouting report for awhile.  Everyone has dud performances during the course of the year.
